The Bellevue Club is searching for an Aquatics Manager to join the team. The Aquatics Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining a culture of safety in the aquatics department and around the club. This position provides supervision and training for the entire Aquatics team, while serving as the primary contact for overseeing our lifeguard program and staff. This position requires administrative, customer service, and communication skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, recruit, interview, hire, and train Aquatics Department personnel. Supervise, train, and provide ongoing performance evaluations of lifeguards and swim instructors.
- Assists in maintaining staff schedules, including availability and time-off, to ensure appropriate staffing levels as defined in the annual business plans.
- Ability to teach First Aid and Red Cross Lifeguard Certification courses as needed.
- Assists Aquatics Director in ensuring lifeguard EAPs and SOPs are clearly written and updated with current club policy.
- Assists Aquatics Director in planning, offering, and registering members for all BC Aquatics programs, private swimming lessons, lifeguard classes, camps and other activities.
- Assists the Aquatics Director in programming and upholding program expectations surrounding the learn-to-swim program.
- Has knowledge and the ability to use all registration systems including, but not limited to, Northstar, and Red Cross.
- Assists Aquatics Director with payroll by reviewing time clock punches, entering commissions, and ensuring accuracy.
- Assists in coverage or coordinating coverage as needed to ensure all aquatics operations are covered based on the business needs.
- Ensures accurate billing for aquatics events, lessons, and classes.
- Assists Aquatics Director in monitoring inventory of supplies for aquatics programs and lifeguard staff.
- Assumes additional administrative tasks in the absence of the Aquatics Director.
- Serves as a key point of contact for members and employees regarding programming information and schedules. Monitors and responds to member inquiries made via e-mail, web communication, or phone.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides direct supervision for all aquatics staff in coordination with, and in the absence of the Aquatics Director.
- Provides corrective action for aquatics staff when needed in accordance with club policies and procedures.
- Completes payroll and supervise aquatics staff in the absence of the Aquatics Director.
- Provides initial and ongoing training for staff relating to standard operating procedures, club navigation, cleaning duties, emergency preparedness, and customer service.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) or equivalent is preferred from a four-year college or technical school; and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of management experience preferred including supervision of at least 10 people as well as administrative duties.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Required: Lifeguard Certification, CPRfPR (CPR for the Professional Rescuer), Current Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification.
Preferred: LGI (Lifeguard Instructor), WSI (Water Safety Instructor), Pool operator’s certification.
