About the role
We're looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to join our People Team in Sydney on an initial 12-month parental leave fixed term contract basis. This is a high-profile role where you'll operate as a trusted advisor to Partners and business leaders across the firm, supporting the delivery of strategic people initiatives and providing expert guidance on a broad range of people matters.
You'll spend your time coaching and supporting Partners on leadership, culture, engagement, performance and talent development, while providing commercially focused advice on employee relations matters, employment obligations, performance management, probations and terminations. You'll partner closely with senior stakeholders to drive annual people processes, support organisational effectiveness, and help shape an inclusive and high-performing culture.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced professional services environment — someone who brings strong business partnering capability, sound employment relations expertise, commercial judgement, and the ability to manage complex and sensitive situations with confidence and discretion.
Key responsibilities
- Coach and support Partners on culture, engagement, leadership effectiveness, performance management and talent development
- Provide expert technical and commercial advice on employee relations matters, employment rights and obligations, probations, performance concerns and terminations
- Manage people operations across designated business units, partnering with HR Coordinators to ensure employee lifecycle activities are completed accurately and efficiently
- Partner with senior HR leaders on annual people processes, including remuneration reviews, talent mapping, promotion cycles and workforce planning initiatives
- Champion diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, employee wellbeing programs, learning and development activities, and employee recognition pr
