Position Summary
The Night Auditor is responsible for providing exceptional overnight guest service while accurately completing the hotel’s night audit process. This role serves as the primary point of contact for guests during overnight hours and supports the Front Office by balancing daily transactions, preparing reports, responding to guest needs, and ensuring the safety and security of the hotel.
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, guest-focused, and comfortable working independently during overnight shifts. This position requires professionalism, accuracy, strong communication, and the ability to create a welcoming experience for guests at all hours.
Essential Job FunctionsGuest Service and Front Desk OperationsGreet guests warmly and provide professional, friendly service during overnight hours.Check guests in and out using hotel systems and brand standards.Respond to guest requests, questions, and concerns in a timely and courteous manner.Handle guest service recovery opportunities with care, urgency, and professionalism.Answer phone calls and assist with reservations, directions, hotel information, and guest inquiries.Communicate effectively with guests, team members, and leadership regarding overnight activity and guest needs.Maintain a calm, professional presence during late-night and early-morning guest interactions.Night Audit and ReportingComplete the nightly audit process accurately and according to hotel and brand procedures.Balance and reconcile daily transactions, room charges, taxes, payments, and adjustments.Review and verify guest accounts, folios, and billing information for accuracy.Prepare and distribute daily reports to appropriate leaders and departments.Identify and communicate discrepancies, system issues, or billing concerns to leadership.Ensure all required end-of-day procedures are completed timely and accurately.
Safety, Security, and Property SupportMonitor hotel activity during overnight hours and report any safety or security concerns.Conduct property walks as needed to ensure guest and property safety.Follow emergency procedures and notify appropriate leadership or emergency contacts when necessary.Maintain awareness of guest activity, entrances, exits, and public spaces.Support a clean, organized, and welcoming lobby and front desk area.Partner with other departments by communicating maintenance, housekeeping, or guest-related needs for follow-up.
Teamwork and CommunicationProvide a clear pass-down of overnight activity, guest concerns, pending requests, and operational notes to the morning team.Work collaboratively with Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, and leadership to support daily hotel operations.Follow all company, property, and Hilton brand policies and procedures.Maintain confidentiality of guest, team member, and company information.Demonstrate Coury Hospitality values through professionalism, accountability, and genuine service.
Requirements:Previous hotel front desk, night audit, or guest service experience preferred.Hilton brand experience preferred, but not required.Strong attention to detail and accuracy with numbers, reports, and guest accounts.Ability to work independently and make sound decisions during overnight hours.Excellent guest service, communication, and problem-solving skills.Basic computer skills required, including ability to learn hotel systems.Ability to handle guest concerns with patience, professionalism, and urgency.Must be dependable, punctual, and comfortable working overnight shifts.Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in a quiet, independent work environment.Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands:Must be able to stand, walk, and remain at the front desk for extended periods.Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 25 pounds as needed.Requires use of computers, phones, printers, and standard office equipment.May require walking throughout the property, including guest areas, public spaces, and back-of-house areas.
Work EnvironmentOvernight schedule required.Work is primarily performed at the front desk and throughout hotel public areas.May require working alone or with limited overnight staffing.Must be able to respond calmly and professionally to guest needs, emergencies, and operational concerns during overnight hours.
