
CNC Machining Apprentice
Job Description
Job Summary:
To assist higher labor grade CNC Machining Operators to produce aircraft parts utilizing CNC and conventional machinery.
Job Responsibilities:
· Works under supervision to set up, adjust and operate CNC/conventional machines to perform a wide variety of machining and finishing operations.
o Requires set up and operation of numerical controlled/conventional machines and equipment as required.
o Requires adjustments of machine speeds, feeds, and depth, selection of tooling and cutters, procedures and sequence of operations, quality standards and output, and materials for machining operations.
· Obtains information from drawing, documents, programming, control media, sketches, and verbal information.
· Selects, secures, and maintains materials from storage and stock areas.
· Performs any function with assistance from assigned worker or groups, such as cleaning work benches, workplace, equipment, parts and assemblies; feeding; machine set up, loading or unloading machines; moving and storing parts; supplying worker or group with tools and inspection gauges, parts materials and supplies, or doing other work related to running CNC machines and producing aircraft parts.
· May require the use of simple hand tools, measuring devices, gauges, and tools to dimensionally check and set cutting tools and/or parts.
· Required to follow shop safety policies, practices, and procedures.
· Responsible for quality of own work.
· Performs other related duties as required.
Education:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Must possess or attain a bronze level certification on the WorkKeys assessment.
Experience:
No experience required. Fabrication and mechanical experience preferred.
Working Conditions:
Somewhat disagreeable shop conditions.
