
Automation Equipment Operator I (Night Shift)(Premium Eligible)
Job Description
Summary:
As an Automation Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining highly automated production equipment within our advanced EV battery manufacturing facility. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of automation systems while performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting to support continuous production.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and oversee automated equipmentin accordance withoperational manuals and safety standards
- Classify and respond to alarms (minor/major), resolving issues directly on-site when possible
- Perform immediate safety checks and shut down equipment when necessary
- Conduct routine inspections and basic preventive maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, part replacement)
- Identifyrecurring issues and collaborate with engineers/technicians to reduce unnecessary alarms
- Record andmaintaindetailed logs of equipment operation, alarms, maintenance activities, and downtime
- Support troubleshooting of automation systems (PLC, sensors, robots, etc.) and escalate as needed
- Follow established SOPs for equipment care, safety compliance, and clean room requirements
- Uphold 5S3R standards (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain / Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container)
- Participate in cross-training, mentoring, and team meetings to support continuous improvement
- Performadditionalduties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GEDrequired; Vocational Certificate orAssociate’s Degreepreferred
- Willingness to work flexible shifts (Day or Night shift, 8–12-hour schedule)
Experience:
- 1+ year of manufacturing, automation equipment operation, or technical production work preferred
- Automotive battery or secondary cell production experience a plus
- At least 1 year of continuous work history with a single employer in the last 5 years
Skills:
- Ability to classify and respond to equipment alarms effectively
- Basic understanding of automation systems (PLCs, sensors, robots, etc.)
- Competence with computer systems and ability to complete production/maintenance logs
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following PPE for a period of up to 12 hours:
- Safety glasses
- Steel-toed shoes
- Nitrile gloves
- Ear protection
- Cleanroom suit
Must be able to perform the following activities repeatedly for periods of up to 12 hours:
- Lift, push, and pull materials or equipment
- Stoop, twist, and bend
- Reach overhead
- Sit and/or stand for extended periods
- Use hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, and computer systems
Work Environment:
- Work may involve handling or working in proximity to hazardous materials and regulated industrial chemicals.
- Exposure to chemical vapors, dust, or other controlled substances may occur depending on process assignment.
- Strict adherence to company safety policies and OSHA Hazard Communication requirements is mandatory.
- Employees must properly wear and maintain assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times within designated areas.
- Required PPE may include respirators, chemical-resistant garments, gloves, eye protection, face shields, or other equipment determined by process and risk assessment.
