Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid Systems and Data, the Assistant Director evaluates financial aid application materials and determines the degree of eligibility for federal, state, and institutional aid and/or alternative financing options. The Assistant Director has responsibility for one or more specific office programs and assists with the training and development of Financial Aid Officers.
Responsibilities

Review and evaluate financial aid applications; insuring compliance with all applicable rules, regulations and policies regarding student eligibility. Perform need analysis, formulate financial aid packages, verify data, and utilize professional judgment in the readjustment of financial aid packages during the year on the basis of changed financial circumstance

Counsel and correspond with Columbia College and Columbia Engineering students and parents about their particular situations, financial aid policies, programs, procedures, etc.

Serves as a financial aid liaison to other offices and office point person for one or more specific programs and projects. These may include athletic recruiting, targeted admissions cycles, inter-office administered programs, system maintenance, audits, and federal and state compliance

Assist with the training and mentoring of Financial Aid Officers

Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience
- Ability to communicate complex information simply, both verbally and in writing
- Time management skills are essential in this high volume office
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- 4 years of related experience preferred
- Experience with financial aid counseling of students and families in a university setting
- Previous PowerFAIDS and/or Institutional Methodology experience
