General Description
General Description
The Assistant Director of Healthcare Services works directly with the Director of Residential Services, Assistant Director of Residential Operations and Healthcare Managers to provide appropriate medical care to residents within the ABI Residential settings. The Assistant Director of Healthcare Services participates in relevant training opportunities, oversees the health and wellness of individuals in concert with the Residential Team.

- RN licensure in the state of MA
- Minimum of two years equivalent work experience with individuals with DD/ID and/or ABI
- Knowledge of community system serving adults with ABI
- Comprehensive knowledge of nursing care
- A safe driving record, current driver’s license, personal vehicle, and current motor vehicle liability insurance required
Job Responsibilities
- This position reports directly to and receives support and supervision from the Director of Residential Services and works in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Residential Operations and the Clinical Director.
- Serve as a back up to Healthcare Managers in the houses to administer all medication(s) and medical treatment(s) needed during the hours of support.
- Supervise all Healthcare Managers and LPN’s working within the homes to ensure that all nursing notes, vitals and skin checks are documented appropriately. This is including but not limited to; conducting training, scheduling, discipline as needed and completion of performance evaluations.
- Complete spot checks of the homes to ensure that all medical needs are being met and provide eyes on evaluation of individuals.
- Attend meetings with the Arc, DDS, team members, and families/ guardians as needed
- Serve as the On Call back up to the Healthcare Managers- this can be rotated with Assistant Director of Residential Operations and Director of Residential Services.
- Serve as last resort back up support staff when Healthcare Managers/ LPN’s aren’t able to fill a shift due to already working or emergency.
- Work in conjunction with The Assistant Director of Residential Operations to ensure that all homes are in MAP compliance.
- Work collaboratively with the Residential team (Director of Residential Services, Clinical Director, and Assistant Director of Residential Operations) to ensure that the homes stay in compliance with licensing standards.
- Oversee data entry into Therap (Electronic Healthcare Record) and HCSIS (Healthcare Records and Health and Dental), ensuring that data is updated in a timely manner.
- Facilitate trainings on individual specific diagnoses and protocols as they change or upon intake
- Facilitate Medication Administration Program trainings and delegate to MAP supervisors when there are issues with Medication Administration.
- Serve as MAP Consultant for the homes in conjunction with the pharmacy.
- Provide as appropriate the services of a liaison to doctors, hospitals, pharmacy, hospice and other support services
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule with potential for some evening shifts and/ or weekends.
- Monitor supported individual’s health status
- Communicate effectively and professionally with all team member’s program including supported individual, family, and supervisor
- Implement goals as stated in the program
- Complete required documentation and reporting.
- Represent the agency’s mission and vision in a positive and supportive manner within the community and with individuals/families supported
- Attend appropriate workshops, seminars and training
- Maintain required certifications (RN licensure, CPR/AED for Healthcare Providers, Services/Supports, Safety Care, etc.).
