Job Description
As a Senior Engineering Manager with the Ads Engineering team, you will lead a team responsible for measurement, reporting, and insights that power Best Buy Ads and the broader Retail Media Network. This role is accountable for building and scaling trusted, accurate, and performant measurement data systems that enable advertisers, merchants, and internal teams to understand campaign performance and business impact. You will build and lead a high-performing data engineering team while setting the technical direction for measurement platforms on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Operating in a matrixed environment, you will partner closely with Product Management, Ads Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, and Business stakeholders to align data capabilities with advertiser needs and Best Buy’s growth objectives.

What You’ll Do
- Lead the architecture, evolution, and operational excellence of retail media measurement platforms, ensuring scalable event ingestion, attribution, reporting, and consistent data models across GCP‑based pipelines.
- Align measurement systems with ad‑serving and event‑generation workflows by partnering closely with Ads Engineering and cross‑functional teams across Product, Analytics, Data Science, Marketing, and the business.
- Build, hire, and develop a high‑performing data engineering team through clear expectations, coaching, feedback, and career‑growth support.
- Foster a culture of data quality, ownership, reliability, and continuous improvement while driving best practices in SDLC, validation, monitoring, and incident response.
- Communicate measurement strategy, platform changes, and data tradeoffs clearly to technical and non‑technical stakeholders, influencing effectively within a matrixed organization.
- Balance near‑term delivery with long‑term scalability and technical‑debt reduction while staying current on retail media measurement trends and applying industry best practices.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience
- 3+ years of experience with GCP core services including Compute Engine, GKE, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Workflows, and Cloud Functions.
- 1+ years of experience writing complex SQL queries and multi-paradigm data modeling (Relational, Dimensional, and NoSQL).
- 1+ years of people management or formal team leadership experience.
- Proven ability to influence technical direction across teams without direct reporting authority.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or equivalent professional experience.
- 7+ years of relevant professional experience in engineering
- 5+ years of experience with engineering custom solutions using modern languages, cloud technologies and SDLC practices and tools.
- 3+ years of Experience with Agile methodologies and modern software development practices including Scrum and Kanban
- 1+ years of experience with Retail Media Networks, Ad Engineering, Ad Servers or Demand Partners
- Experience supporting retail media networks, advertising measurement, or monetization analytics platforms.
