Job Description

OUR MISSION

The Family Place empowers survivors of family violence by providing safe housing, counseling, and skills that create independence while building community engagement and advocating for social change to stop family violence.

Position Summary:

In this position as Assistant Program Director (APD), you will provide critical oversight and leadership to Non-Residential Case Managers serving both the Southern Dallas Community Center and Central Dallas Counseling Center (CDCC), ensuring continuous quality improvement, and assist in leading community outreach efforts to increase client referrals.

You'll supervise Non-Residential Case Managers who are often the first in-person contact clients have with the organization, overseeing client intakes, transportation coordination, SDCC operations, and building access while maintaining the highest standards of safety and service delivery. Provide day-to-day supervision, training, and coaching, and collaborate with Program Directors on client service delivery and census monitoring, and ensure 100% accuracy in client documentation and database management.

Key Responsibilities:

Staff Supervision & Operations

  • Provide day-to-day supervision of Non-Residential Case Managers, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of case management services.
  • Ensure Non-Residential Case Managers complete client intakes and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Review the database daily to ensure 100% accuracy regarding client case management services
  • Manage concerns relating to scheduling and/or client grievances 
  • Work with the Operations Team to ensure Non-Residential Case Managers are properly trained on safety cameras, client entrance protocols, and all safety protocols for entering the building.

Staff Training & Development

  • Ensure new staff members have a smooth, informative, and productive onboarding process during their first year of employment by providing orientation, mentoring, coaching, and training; send feedback surveys to new staff throughout their first year to capture their orientation experience.
  • Encourage staff development and education; facilitate ongoing monthly training to Non-Residential Case Managers on domestic violence issues, intake procedures, crisis intervention and de-escalation, etc., and monitor regularly to ensure staff maintain professional knowledge.

Administration & Program Support

  • Ensure coordination of communication with staff and clients to enhance services.
  • Facilitate weekly individual supervision and monthly team meetings; monitor the effectiveness of services being provided.
  • Attend weekly supervision and team meetings with Program Directors.
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Director of Non-Residential Services regarding client service delivery and assisting with monitoring programs.
  • Interview and screen potential staff for open Non-Residential Case Manager positions.
  • Administer annual and mid-year employee evaluations; provide coaching and performance feedback to members of the team.
  • Work with Sr. Director of Non-Residential Services in addressing employee disciplinary notices, performance improvement plans, etc.
  • Create and implement policies and procedures for Non-Residential Case Managers, in collaboration with the Sr. Director of Residential Services and Program Directors. 
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of client supplies and assist in securing in-kind donations.

Professional Development

  • Attend agency-provided professional development courses relating to domestic violence and business acumen.
     

Other Duties:

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, education, or related field required. 
  • Master’s preferred, but not required
  • At least one to two years of managing staff. 

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid Texas Driver’s License and a clear driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence, childhood sexual abuse, incest recovery, and related issues.
  • Knowledge and experience of program development and performance management.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and oral) are required.
  • Ability to build strong teams to meet performance goals.
  • Ability to maintain a climate that attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse staff of top-quality people.
  • Understanding of the agency’s mission and culture and the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with staff and clients in all circumstances.
  • Ability to follow all safety and precautionary rules and measures;
  • Ability to prioritize and self-motivate to accomplish program goals;
  • Ability to perform work efficiently and effectively under stressful situations.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Mental and Physical Duties:

Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (less than 25 lbs). 
 

Working Conditions:

Work may be performed, but is not limited to an office environment and may require weekends and evenings. 


Essential Personnel Designation: Non-Essential

Non-essential employees will follow Dallas Independent School District (DISD) closure/delay decisions and are expected to work remotely or use PTO during inclement weather. Refer to The Family Place Inclement Weather Policy for complete details.
