The Technical Applications Specialist for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics works directly with the clinical labs to implement and optimize instrumentation and software, delivering hands-on technical support that improves workflow and patient outcomes. In this travel-driven, science-focused role, you’ll partner closely with sales to drive adoption, expand accounts, and achieve regional growth—unlocking strong financial rewards and incentive opportunities tied directly to your success in the field.
This position is part of the Microbiology Technical Applications Support team and located in the Chicago and surrounding regions and is fully remote. This role reports to the Technical Applications Manager for the Microbiology territory and is part of a collaborative Microbiology Technical Applications Support team serving the Chicago, IL region—working remotely while staying closely connected to service and support teammates across the territory.
In this position, you will have the opportunity to:
Be on the front lines of patient impact by partnering directly with clinical labs—prioritizing support, following through quickly, and delivering Beckman Coulter solutions that help generate accurate, timely results when they matter most.
Lead the implementation of MicroScan analyzers with a patient-first mindset, designing and executing customer-driven plans that elevate antimicrobial stewardship, improve turnaround times, and strengthen clinical decision-making.
Serve as a trusted scientific partner, collaborating in the lab to troubleshoot challenges and address technical needs with urgency—ensuring consistent, reliable, high-quality performance.
Reimagine lab workflows with purpose, introducing innovative, actionable strategies that reduce manual touchpoints, enhance efficiency, and drive meaningful improvements—while continuously learning and applying new microbiology technologies across IT, LIS, and integrated software and hardware systems.
Connect science to impact, working alongside sales and lab leaders to align microbiology solutions with clinical, operational, and financial priorities—while ensuring every commitment advances a seamless, high-value customer experience.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor’s degree in field with 5+ years' experience. OR Master’s degree in field with 3+ years' experience
Clinical laboratory experience and/or previous technical applications experience, including hands-on system and/or consumables troubleshooting.
Verification and validation experience of consumables, instrumentation, and workflows.
Ability to engage and collaborate across all staff in a clinical microbiology lab, from bench technologists to lab leadership and medical directors, building trusted relationships and effectively communicating technical insights to diverse audiences.
Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively deliver technical information to both laboratory teams and leadership—translating complex concepts into clear value to support product adoption, sales growth, and successful implementation.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
Must be willing to travel 75%, including overnight travel, within the territory
Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 40lb’s, and work under lab benches or counters.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Direct experience working as a Microbiology Medical Technologist or Clinical Lab Scientist in clinical microbiology
Experience with automated identification/antimicrobial susceptibility testing systems
Have experience with basic hardware, software and working with IT/LIS concepts and teams.

The annual salary range for this role is $85,000 to $105,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
