MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in any field. Scientific research experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor. This is a training position and is not expected to be a permanent position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Work on the continuation of NIH- and foundations-funded projects in Dr. Kayed’s lab focusing on Neurodegenerative tauopathies.
  • Investigate the biochemistry and cellular mechanisms for the formation and toxicity in protein aggregates. 
  • Apply biochemical, biophysical, immunological, molecular methods to characterize amyloidogenic proteins and aggregates polymorphs 
  • Investigate the diversity of the brain-derived oligomeric amyloid polymorphs in tau aggregation and the mechanism of their toxicity and spreading in cell models, primary cultures, and animal models 
  • Perform experiments, analyze data and results, prepare figures, write manuscripts for publication, and supervise other lab members, as needed

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous research experience in the protein biochemistry, cell biology and neuroscience.

PREFERRED SKILL/COMPETENCY:

  • Biochemical, biophysical, cell biology techniques

Commensurate with experience
