Join us as a Group SHEQ Advisor and play a key role in supporting Health, Safety, Environment and Quality governance across a diverse, multi-site operational business. Working closely with the Senior Manager – SHEQ Governance & Management Systems, you’ll support a wide range of SHEQ activities including auditing, contractor management, fire safety, training, and cultural improvement initiatives across the Group.

This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys building relationships across operational teams and is confident working in fast-paced industrial or high-hazard environments. You’ll need a pragmatic approach, strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities while helping drive continual improvement across the business.

The role involves regular travel across the UK, along with occasional international travel to support sites and operational activities.   We have one opportunity available which can be based from either our London or Manchester office, so please apply via the advert most relevant to your location. 


Key Responsibilities

Group SHEQ Governance & Support
  • Support the development and rollout of Group SHEQ strategies, policies and procedures
  • Provide support and guidance to operational teams on health, safety, environment and quality matters
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with statutory, regulatory and internal SHEQ requirements across all business units.
Group Auditor
  • Support the delivery of internal SHEQ audits across sites, offices and business functions
  • Assist with audit finding and follow-up activities aligned with ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001) where applicable
  • Identify non-conformities, areas of improvement and good practice, support teams with corrective and preventive action plans.
Construction & Contractor Management (incl. Temporary Works)
  • Support operational teams with construction, maintenance and contractor management activities across the Group
  • Monitor and advise on contractor competency, pre-qualification, and onboarding processes
  • Support operational teams to develop Construction Phase Plans, RAMS, and Temporary Works arrangements
  • Conduct site inspections of construction and temporary works to verify compliance with CDM and internal standards.
Fire Safety (Office & Building)
  • Support fire safety compliance activities across office and building assets, ensuring alignment with relevant fire safety legislation
  • Assist with fire risk assessment actions and compliance tracking
  • Oversee the testing, maintenance and records management of fire safety systems (alarms, extinguishers, emergency lighting)
  • Deliver or coordinate fire warden training and evacuation drills
  • Work with Facilities teams to ensure physical controls remain effective and up to date.
Group Culture Programme Support
  • Support the design and rollout of Group safety culture programmes, campaigns and communications
  • Assist with behavioural safety initiatives, campaigns and engagement activities
  • Monitor engagement levels and feedback to shape continuous improvement activity
  • Promote good practice and act as an ambassador for Greenergy’s safety culture vision
  • Support the Annual Group Safety Week
Group Training Delivery
  • Support the coordination and delivery of SHEQ training across the Group, including mandatory and role-specific programmes
  • Assist with the development of training materials and e-learning content as required
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.
General Responsibilities
  • Participate in incident investigations and root-cause analysis where required
  • Lead or support SHEQ projects and improvement initiatives
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships across operational teams
  • Champion continual improvement and proactively identify risks, trends and opportunities.


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential:
  • Experience in a SHEQ, HSE or compliance-related role, ideally in a multi-site or industrial environment
  • Knowledge of construction/CDM, fire safety, occupational health and auditing
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple workstreams concurrently
  • Capacity for regular national and occasional international travel
  • Experience supporting cultural and behavioural safety initiatives
  • Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Good reporting and analytical skills. 
Desirable:
  • Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g. IOSH, IEMA or equivalent)
  • Auditor qualification
  • Experience within energy, fuel supply, logistics, manufacturing or other high-hazard industries.
