Department: Front Office
Reports To: General Manager / Front Office Manager
Status: Full-Time POSITION OVERVIEWThe Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing hotel operations during the overnight shift, ensuring a welcoming experience for guests while accurately balancing and auditing the day’s financial activity. This position combines front desk guest service with essential accounting duties. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and enjoys working independently.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESGuest Service & Front Desk Operations
- Greet, check-in, and check-out guests in accordance with Hampton brand standards.
- Provide exceptional service by responding promptly and professionally to guest inquiries, requests, and concerns.
- Monitor hotel safety and security during overnight hours, including routine property walks.
- Manage incoming calls, reservations, wake-up calls, and guest messages.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming lobby and front desk area.
Night Audit & Accounting Duties
- Complete nightly audit tasks, including balancing revenue and verifying daily transactions.
- Run and review audit reports, identify discrepancies, and correct errors.
- Post room and tax charges, adjustments, and payments accurately.
- Prepare and distribute daily management reports.
- Ensure compliance with Hampton Inn brand standards, accounting policies, and internal controls.
Operational Support
- Prepare breakfast area setup for morning shift as needed.
- Support other departments by communicating any issues from the overnight shift.
- Follow all safety, security, and emergency procedures.
- Assist with inventory of front desk supplies when required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous hotel or customer service experience preferred; night audit experience a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial tasks.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Basic computer proficiency; experience with hotel PMS preferred (ONQ or similar).
- Must be able to stand for long periods and perform occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
