Working collaboratively with individuals, businesses, government and other service providers, St. Patrick Center will end chronic homelessness in the St. Louis region through Housing First, an evidence-based practice that tells us to remove barriers, do intake and assessment early, move people into housing and offer them support to achieve their goals.
Position Summary
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, St. Patrick Center, is hiring a Facilities Specialist to perform routine maintenance, repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance activities that support safe, functional, and well-maintained facilities. Under the direction of the Facilities Manager and technical guidance of the Facilities Lead, the Facilities Technician completes assigned work orders, assists with facility operations, supports regulatory and safety requirements, and participates in a rotating on-call schedule. Core working of St. Patrick Center are from 8:00am to 4:30pm.
Overview and Responsibilites
- Complete assigned work orders and maintenance requests in a timely manner.
- Perform routine carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, and general maintenance tasks.
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities, grounds, and equipment and report deficiencies.
- Assist with preventive maintenance activities for building systems and equipment.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Assist with furniture moves, room setups, and facility support activities.
- Support life safety, emergency preparedness, and compliance activities as assigned.
- Participate in on-call rotations as assigned.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection logs, and work-order documentation.
- Assist vendors and contractors while they are performing work on-site.
- Report maintenance and safety concerns to the Facilities Lead or Facilities Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Experience Required
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school, trade certification, or related vocational training preferred.
- One to three years of facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or related experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance
- Valid driver’s license required. (MO Residents require Class E).

Ability to safely operate maintenance tools and equipment.
Skills and Competencies Required
- Completes routine maintenance and repair tasks on schedule with minimal supervision and minimal rework.
- Executes written and verbal directions correctly, completing tasks as specified without errors.
- Identifies and troubleshoots basic HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance issues using established practices.
- Operates hand tools, power tools, ladders, and equipment safely and in compliance with safety procedures.
- Detects maintenance problems during inspections and reports deficiencies to leadership within required timeframes.
- Completes work orders, inspection logs, and maintenance records accurately, thoroughly, and on time.
- Provides clear, professional communication and delivers responsive customer service to staff, vendors, and clients.
- Consistently follows safety protocols, uses PPE correctly, and identifies unsafe conditions or practices.

Pre-Employment Screening
