Position Purpose:
In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Lead Neonatal Registered Respiratory Therapist will act as a resource person for MCSA staff to include providing in-services, orientation, etc. in addition to being integrated into the staffing plan. The Registered Respiratory Therapist functions as a performance level respiratory therapist in providing therapeutic procedures and diagnostic testing to chronically and acutely ill patients requiring respiratory procedures.
What You Will Do:
Acts in capacity for policy and training on behalf of Nationwide Children's Hospital.
Provides Respiratory Care, ensure an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality intiatives and exhibits professionalism in the care of patients and their families.
Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge to work in all areas of the hospital and practice within Repiratory's Scope of Practice.
Responds to the emergent needs of the patient utilizing critical thinking skills.
Initiates and administers therapeutic procedures, diagnostic test and education in accordance with departmental policy and procedures.
Communicates pertinent clinical information and collaborates with physicians, house staff and other health care disciplines regarding patient care, treatment and/or plan of care.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related healthcare field.
Licensure / Certification: Ohio Respiratory Care Professional License to practie in the State of Ohio. National Board Respiratory Credential indicating registered respiratory technologist.
Experience: Clinical experience in neonatal respiratory therapy procedures such as aerosolized delivery of medication, mechanical ventilation, assisting with intubations and extubations, pulmonary function studies, emergency care, and obtaining and interpreting arterial blood gases.
Minimum of (1) year of Level III NICU experience.
Neonatal-Pediatric Specialist certification preferred (from NBRC).
