Job Title: Product Design Engineer – EE Components (Passenger Cars)
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead development and series support for E/E components for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, ensuring compliance with legal regulations, production requirements, and project objectives (function, quality, weight, and cost).
• Create and maintain component requirement specifications, integrate safety requirements, and contribute to concept and vehicle specifications.
• Develop and manage detailed project schedules (including component and software release versions) in alignment with vehicle-level milestones in coordination with Purchase, Logistics, Costing, and Quality.
• Coordinate with E/E system partners regarding system integration of component parts.
• Act as the primary contact for components within the carline project, delegating to E/E system partners when required.
• Ensure proper documentation of development programs in RD systems.
• Participate in design reviews, concept validations, and E/E sample tests.
• Support end-to-end supplier management (in-house and purchased parts), including EVS for localized ranges:
Lead supplier control at E-level for development and production-related topics.
Control supplier activities at Q-level for development-related issues.
• Create and coordinate engineering change requests with internal and external stakeholders.
• Define test concepts and specifications, and coordinate component-level testing activities at MB.
• Manage ECU defect handling and report component-specific topics in carline committees and stakeholder forums.
• Release components and coordinate ECU diagnosis in plant, aftersales, and proto-build environments.
• Generate and release ECU coding or coordinate system-level coding activities.
• Provide and manage test samples (vehicle, boards, S-HIL, C-HIL, etc.).
• Coordinate plant logistics activities post blank-release and support PIV (test & commissioning regulation) creation and release.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Strong automotive domain knowledge, especially in automotive electronics.
• Good understanding of automotive OEM and Tier-1 development processes and models.
• Experience working with global teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of Body Electronics, Powertrain, Safety Systems (ECUs), SW architecture, and ECU functional testing.
• Experience in development of medium-complexity ECUs (e.g., Cluster ECU, Seat Control ECU, Immobilizer, Keyless Entry systems).
• Proven problem-solving capability with ability to drive and motivate teams toward resolution.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• High level of self-motivation, integrity, and professionalism in day-to-day operations.
Educational Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Electrical / Electronics / Automotive Engineering or related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have):
• Experience in complete ECU lifecycle management from concept to series production.
• Exposure to global carline projects and stakeholder management.
• Hands-on experience in ECU diagnostics, coding, and HIL-based validation (S-HIL / C-HIL).
• Experience working within Mercedes-Benz development frameworks, standards, and release processes.
