
Government Relations Lead Specialist (Temporary Opportunity Up to 12months)

In this role, you’ll:
- Operate as the enterprise lead for government and parliamentary engagement across Transport for NSW, providing authoritative advice on complex, high-profile issues.
- Drive a coordinated, strategic approach to government relations, leading responses to Ministerial and whole‑of‑government priorities, managing sensitive and emerging issues, and strengthening Transport’s reputation as a trusted partner in public policy and governance.
- Lead enterprise-wide government relations strategies, including intergovernmental engagement across State and Federal forums.
- Provide expert advice to the Secretary, senior executives, and Ministers on complex parliamentary, policy, and strategic issues.
- Oversee parliamentary inquiries and high‑impact government engagement activities.
- Identify and manage risks, emerging issues, and contentious matters, delivering proactive mitigation strategies.
- Lead Transport’s election readiness and Machinery of Government transitions, ensuring continuity and compliance.
- Build capability across Transport by embedding best practice in parliamentary processes and government engagement.
- You’ll bring leadership capabilities, judgement, and influence to navigate a complex political environment, ensuring Transport is well positioned to deliver on Government priorities.

About you
- You are a recognised expert in government relations, public policy, or public affairs, with the credibility and confidence to advise at executive and Ministerial level. You bring:
- Deep expertise in parliamentary processes, government systems, and the Westminster framework.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, and extensive experience providing strategic, politically astute advice in complex and sensitive environments.
- Strong analytical capability, with the ability to interpret complex information and translate it into clear, actionable insights.
- Proven ability to lead high impact programs, manage risk, and deliver outcomes under pressure.
