Job Description
- Work closely with Ancillary Services Director and Executive Director to establish goals, objectives, standards related to plant operations.
- Is knowledgeable of department of Maintenance practices, procedures, safety regulations, and guidelines.
- Receives, follows and ensures that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined by Ancillary Services Director/Executive Director.
- Follows preventative maintenance programs of maintaining facility equipment and property, as necessary/approved.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment to include plumbing, plastering electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed, in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintains lighting systems within apartments and common areas.
- Inspects Heritage on a daily basis to ensure that the grounds, buildings and equipment are maintained in accordance with established policies and procedures and all hazardous areas are properly identified.
- Assists in the safety and security of Heritage at Falmouth.
- Inspects and tests Heritage equipment on a scheduled basis.
- 1Assures that the plant and equipment is properly maintained for comfort, convenience and safety, operating to manufacturer’s specifications.
- Reports and assists in identifying and correcting problem areas and equipment, and/or improvement of services.
- Replaces equipment as necessary and approved.
- Maintains an adequate level of required supplies and equipment.
- Follows polices that will effectively maintain equipment and supplies for Heritage.
- Completes necessary forms, reports, documentation as required, submitting such to Ancillary Services Director/Executive Director as required.
- Participates in programs designed for in-service education, on the job training and orientation classes.
- Adheres to department working hours and completes assignments within guidelines set by Ancillary Services Department/Executive Director.
- Adheres to Universal Precautions and Infection Control Policies, including following established hand washing procedures, use of appropriate PPE and supplies when handling infectious materials.
- Follows established policies governing the use/disposal of PPE and disposal of infectious wastes.
- Has a competent understanding of all chemicals and has been trained to use them in accordance with standards.
- Wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies and uses proper mechanics while performing duties (e.g., back brace, mechanical lifts, etc.) when moving or lifting heavy objects.
- Keeps work area(s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e., grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc., to assure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times. Refers to materials safety when necessary.
- Follows established policies governing the use of labels and MSDSs.
- Ensures that work/assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored before leaving such areas on breaks, end of work day, etc.
- Performs shipping and receiving tasks as directed.
- Performs other related duties and activities as may be become necessary or as directed by Ancillary Services Director/Executive Director.
- Report all accidents/incidents to ACD/ED on the shift on which they occur.
- Maintains the confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information.
- Reports known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of said information and adheres to Resident Rights.
- Reports known or suspected incidents of fraud to the Executive Director.
- Works to further professional growth and knowledge.
- Exemplifies a high standard of customer service with the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors, and the general public.
- Participates in Heritage projects and offers input for the continuous improvement of practices.
- Ensures regulatory agency and internal policy compliance through diligent adherence to practices.
- Follows Heritage policies and procedures.
- Understands terms and concepts relevant to job practices.
- Reports to work in compliance with work schedules, or as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers in a manner that reflects Heritage’s commitment to CARES: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence and service.
- High School degree and 3-5 years’ experience in a maintenance/plant related position preferred.
- Knowledge in various mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
