Work Schedule: Days, Monday - Friday.
Oversee and supervise Rehabilitation Services, providing leadership and management of PT/OT/Speech and sports medicine inpatient and outpatient rehab.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions

2. Facilitates and directs strategic planning for Rehabilitation Services to achieve selected outcomes as established by the Health System and Regulatory bodies.
Develops and implements yearly department goals and objectives.
Works with Vice President to establish plan and objectives on a yearly basis and reviews monthly.
Strategic plan to be completed prior to new fiscal year.
Communicates progress and issues related to strategic initiatives with all Rehab staff at least quarterly.
3. Completes Health System budget for Rehabilitation Services.
Reviews staffing, operational and capital budgets for Rehabilitation Service clinics/departments for final presentation to Vice President.
Meet with Managers at end of third quarter to discuss goals and projections for next fiscal year.
Finalize with Managers during fourth quarter.
Monitors budget and analyzes budget variances.
Adheres to sound methods of financial planning, fiscal responsibility and responsible resource management.
4. Reviews justifications for capital expenditures and continuing education.
Approves/disapproves requests in an appropriate manner adhering to policy and procedure.
Evaluates need based purchasing and adherence to budget.
Evaluates need based continuing education in conjunction with managers to promote employee development, competency and program enhancement.
5. Identifies the need for departmental policies/procedures for Rehabilitation Services.
Assists in the development of these policies either directly or through review.
Assists managers with yearly review of all policies to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory agencies.
Monitors 100% compliance of staff's orientation to hospital policy and procedures, emergency manuals, universal precautions, MSDS and infection control.
Attend management meetings and Leadership Forum to ensure updated information is available.
6. Encourages and directs professional employee development by completing performance appraisals, providing regular feedback, counseling, establishing mentoring relationships, disciplinary action, mediation, training, orientation and competency assessment within their assigned responsibility.
Accountable for managers and assists/makes recommendations for professional and support staff as needed.
Participates in scheduled staff meetings, management meetings and holds manager's meetings individually and as group at least bi-monthly.
7. Acts as consultant and provides feedback to appropriate personnel on the effective management of human resources; including choosing the most appropriate candidates for jobs, providing for adequate staffing levels in review of productivity, revenue and expense, and handling employee relation issues to ensure positive morale and quality care.
Meets with managers individually on weekly basis to review staffing and related issues.
Directs the recruiting process and assists in the interview process as needed.
8. Delegates and assigns job responsibilities including program development, administrative duties, communication, etc., and monitors for follow through.
Reviews all tasks delegated and provides feedback and guidance to appropriate personnel.
Meets and coordinates individually and as a group.
Prepares minutes and outlines delegated duties.
Places timelines on duties and follows up at regular intervals making recommendations as appropriate.
9. Assumes accountability for the quality of care and customer satisfaction for all Rehabilitation Services.
Directs and monitors performance improvement initiatives and provides feedback as indicated.
Monitors overall quality of care of the departments through observation, patient survey, chart review, interdepartmental communication and performance improvement reports and takes action when indicated.
Responds promptly to quality concerns of patients, physicians and other hospital personnel and follows up to assess satisfaction.
10. Demonstrates support and commitment to assist all Health System entities as well as other network allies in achieving their respective vision by remaining current on organizational issues and by considering them in decision making processes.
Attends management meetings and Leadership Forum to stay updated on information.
Considers potential impact on other departments or entities with changes in operation, etc. of Rehabilitation Services.
11. Actively promotes Rehabilitation Services and Methodist Health System in a positive manner by marketing services, public relations, positive patient outcomes and attentiveness to customer service.
Coordinates all marketing and public relations efforts/materials.
Cooperates with and communicates with physicians on a regular basis.
Speaks publicly on Rehabilitation and available services.
Represents the Health System with professionalism and integrity.
12. Establishes positive relationships and facilitates interaction with all Health System entities with special attentions to departments within the hospital to ensure business objectives are met by focusing on needs and opportunities within the Health System.
Participates in departmental and interdisciplinary meetings, focus groups, committees and weekly groups.
13. Supervises the duties of the Clinical Education Coordinator in effectively scheduling, orienting, communicating and evaluating student affiliations.
Reviews documentation, if required, paperwork, on a quarterly basis, i.e. contracts, confidentiality and infection control orientation, departmental orientation.
Evaluates staff preparedness for upcoming affiliates on quarterly basis.
Reviews student eval of clinical site and takes actions as appropriate.
Encourages affiliations through career fair participation.
14. Evaluates patients to facilitate timely access to Rehabilitation Services and adequate staffing for quality care by establishing effective/appropriate treatment programs, patient education and home programs as described in performance development plan for staff therapist.
Provides appropriate plan for staff therapist.
Provides appropriate care specific to the age of the patient ensuring understanding and comfort level of treatment as outlined in “age-specific” criteria.
Provides completion of patient reports, physician reports, scheduling and billing as described in policy and procedures.
15. Reviews and updates Rehabilitation Services charge master in conjunction with updates in CPT coding and market rates.
Analyzes impact of coding changes, communicates changes and potential impact with Vice President and appropriate financial officers for final approval.
Periodically evaluates reimbursement patterns or denials and seeks to maximize reimbursement for Rehabilitation Services according to standards and regulations.
16. Communicates with perspective contractual relationships on pricing, responsibilities, wording, etc., according to guidelines established by general counsel, standards established and Vice President of Network Development.
Monitors for timely renewal of contracts prior to their expiration and compliance to contract stipulations/responsibilities.
General Counsel or designated other will review all contacts after Vice President's approval.
17. Directs, coordinates and monitors any construction activities for Rehabilitation Services.
Analyzes impact of design options with architects and decor according to purpose, efficiency and aesthetics.

Job Requirements
Education
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Management or Health Care Administration.
Experience
Required six years clinical background.
Required three years of supervisory experience.
License/Certifications
Current valid Physical Therapy (PT) license for work state.
Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Ability to supervise multidisciplinary management (PT, OT, Speech) and personnel management at the professional and support level.
Knowledge in budgeting, performance improvement and adherence to regulatory requirements.
Ability of public speaking and frequent communication, oral and written, with physicians and other hospital staff.
Strategic planning and business proposal writing knowledge.
Ability to delegate and follow through on ideas/plans.
Promotes positive relations interacting with patients or other customers.
