8302 Engineering-Grounds
Schedule: Day Shift. 7:00 am - -3:30pm Monday - Friday
About the Position
Performs assigned routine maintenance duties in and around the hospital grounds, parking lots and drives to maintain safe and pleasant environment.
Overview of Responsibilities
• Maintenance (including seeding, planting, sodding, fertilization, irrigation, or renovation) of lawns, parkways, etc. on all hospital owned properties.
• Mowing, spraying and application of chemicals or other control of grass and vegetation within the improved areas of the main hospital complex and on satellite hospital owned properties as scheduled.
• Removal of such debris as rocks, wire, lumber, and other trash that interferes with grass mowing or other operations essential to the maintenance of a ground cover. Removes vegetation debris from various air intakes, passageways, etc. as necessary.
• Planting, fertilization, watering, pruning, and spraying of trees, shrubs, vines, and ornamental plants around all hospital owned properties on a specified or scheduled basis.
• Maintenance of power equipment.
• Maintenance of paved areas designated or intended to be used as parking lots, driveways, or aprons.
• Maintenance of features incidental to parking, such as under drains, curbs, gutters, guard rails, catch basins and sidewalks.
• Works as part of the snow and ice removal team.
• Helps to maintain/install signs and markings.
• Has knowledge of and participates in QA and AQ&I activities.
• Assists other personnel in hospital as requested.
• Serves as member of Code Green and other teams as needed. Assists all emergencies as required.
• Moves equipment, materials, furniture, and supplies to a variety of locations as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
• Experience in lawn care maintenance and operating commercial power equipment is preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Repetitive lifting of 80 lb bags of fertilizer and salt, and lifting of other materials of this weight, is required.
• Successful completion of Reid Hospital orientation and competency-based skills appropriate for the job. Individual performance and competency-based skills are maintained through ongoing assessment of competence and educational activities. Written evaluations are done on an annual basis.
