KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Carry out security duties within the museum in line with assigned instructions and procedures.
Monitor all four floors of the museum, including exhibition spaces, the museum shop, and staff areas to ensure a safe, secure, and orderly environment at all times.
Perform regular patrols and routine safety checks, including opening and closing procedures and general building inspections.
Maintain professional, calm and visible security presence appropriate to the fast paced museum environment.
Act as a service oriented and approachable point of contact for visitors, providing basic assistance while remaining alert to security and safety risks.
Ensure compliance with museum house rules, safety regulations, and applicable legislation.
Support visitor flow and general crowd control during high season and special events.
Respond to incidents, alarms, and visitor concerns in accordance with procedures and report these to the management team.
Communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and supervisors to support smooth daily operations.
Accurately report incidents, patrols, and safety observations in line with reporting requirements and confidentiality standards.
Assist with emergency situations, including evacuations and first-response actions, as instructed and in accordance with established procedures.
REQUIREMENTS
Previous experience in security, hospitality, or a similar role (experience in a museum or cultural institution is an advantage).
Strong situational awareness with the ability to remain calm, attentive, and professional in all situations.
Confidence in handling incidents, addressing concerns, and enforcing guidelines with clarity, discretion, and respect.
Good communication skills and a professional, approachable manner.
Ability to follow established security and safety procedures and respond effectively in emergency situations.
Ability to complete clear, accurate written or digital incident reports.
Reliable, punctual, and flexible, with availability for a zero-hour contract and shifts scheduled Monday to Sunday.
Physically capable of conducting regular patrols, standing for extended periods, and moving between floors as required.
Fluent in English is required, other languages will be a plus.
CERTIFICATES
BHV: required to obtain shortly after hiring.
VOG: required to obtain shortly after hiring.
Eligibility to work in the Netherlands.
Knowledge of Dutch health & safety legislation is an advantage.
