About the team you are joining Part of the Information and Data (I D) Division, Data Governance team works to define and implement state-of-the-art data practices within our organization to make data and analytics more accessible, trustworthy, and actionable. Our goal is to maximizes the investment in data and analytics initiatives by promoting the proper use of analytics in business processes, ensuring accurate insights based on quality data, reducing risks with security, and guiding the prioritization of projects so the right information is available at the right time. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data Architecture and Modeling, the Data Modeler is responsible for designing and maintaining enterprise data models that structure IATA’s data ecosystem effectively. The role ensures that data is organized, consistent, documented and optimized within information systems to support business processes, analytics, and strategic objectives. What your day would be like The Data Modeler supports the design, implementation, and maintenance of data models used across operational, analytical, and reporting systems. Working under the guidance of the Senior Manager, Data Architecture and Modeling, the role collaborates with architecture, engineering, and business teams to ensure data structures are aligned with approved data standards and integration requirements. Responsibilities include: Contributing to the definition and documentation of data modelling standards, methodologies, and tools for conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Translating business and functional requirements into normalized and dimensional data models to support transactional, analytical, and integration use cases. Developing and maintaining conceptual, logical, and physical data models in alignment with established data architecture and strategy. Supporting collaboration with data engineering and solution architecture teams to implement data flows and integration designs. Applying enterprise naming conventions, data definitions, and domain models to ensure consistency and interoperability. Assisting in troubleshooting data model–related issues, optimizing schema designs, and reverse-engineering existing database structures when required. Designing and maintaining analytical and transactional data models with a focus on performance, scalability, and data quality. Applying established data modelling patterns and contributing to continuous improvement of modelling practices.
