
Vice President Total Rewards
Job Description
The Vice President, Total Rewards leads the strategy, design, implementation, communication, and administration of Newport Healthcare’s compensation and benefits programs to attract, retain, and reward top talent. This role serves as the subject matter expert on fair, effective reward programs that support organizational goals and acts as a trusted advisor to HR and business leaders.
This role is a Monday-Friday in-office work schedule located at the Newport Healthcare Corp. Office in Nashville.
Key Performance Responsibilities:
- Develop and advance compensation and benefits strategies aligned with business priorities to attract, retain, and reward a high-performing workforce, including health, welfare, retirement, base pay, incentive pay, merit, and other reward programs.
- Partner with leadership and HR to define and execute the Total Rewards philosophy, vision, strategy, and salary structure in support of short- and long-term business objectives.
- Lead annual Total Rewards processes, including compensation planning, merit cycles, benefits benchmarking, communications, and open enrollment.
- Oversee compensation programs to maximize cost effectiveness and business value, including market surveys, merit review, bonuses, promotions, transfers, job evaluation and classification, variable pay design, and compensation policies.
- Direct benefits strategy, plan design, administration, and communication, including health and welfare, retirement plans, open enrollment, plan changes, and vendor performance management.
- Review, reconcile, and process monthly invoices and partner with Finance on forecasting and cost management.
- Prepare and deliver accurate, timely reports and analyses on compensation and benefits activities, programs, and results.
- Partner with recordkeepers to administer 401(k) plans and serve as Secretary of the Investment Committee.
- Lead the use of technology to improve Total Rewards service delivery, efficiency, and clarity.
- Partner with Finance to monitor self-funded plans, manage cash needs, and support sound budgeting and execution of benefits, bonus, and merit programs.
- Partner with Payroll to streamline timely, accurate data transfers between HR system and third-party vendors.
- Oversee leave management programs to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, including FMLA, workers’ compensation, and state-mandated benefits.
- Hire and lead Total Rewards staff to optimize team performance and deliver high-quality service to internal stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Experience, License Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, human resources, business administration, or a related field required; MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in finance, compensation, benefits, total rewards, or a related analytical business function required, with at least five (5) years of leadership experience. Candidates with limited direct compensation and benefits administration experience may be considered if they bring strong financial acumen, strategic planning capability, and experience leading complex programs or budgets.
- Demonstrated advanced technical skills required.
- Strong knowledge of compliance regulations required (e.g., HIPAA, ERISA, ACA, COBRA, Section 125, FLSA, etc.).
