POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant – Venue Accounting provides accounting services for SFC-managed facilities. This role will be responsible for overseeing key accounting functions, supporting month-end close activities, assisting with preparing and reviewing financial reporting packages, and partnering with leadership to ensure accurate and timely financial operations.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and eager to develop professionally in a fast-paced, multi-entity accounting environment. This role offers broad exposure to operational accounting, client interaction, and financial analysis within a rapidly growing organization. The position also provides the opportunity to work closely with experienced leadership who are committed to mentorship, professional development, and helping team members expand their technical accounting.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries accurately and on a timely basis as part of the monthly close cycle
  • Oversee and reconcile daily financial activity from client point-of-sale platforms and ensure accurate recording within the general ledger
  • Review and monitor client deposits, cash activity, and funding requirements to support ongoing operational and payroll needs
  • Monitor bank balances and cash flow activity to proactively identify funding needs and support timely vendor payments and payroll obligations
  • Prepare and analyze weekly and monthly reporting packages for the facility General Managers and leadership teams
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice review, payment applications, and follow up on vendor payments and collections
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Assist clients with the preparation and analysis of budgets and financial forecasts
  • Prepare and file client sales and use tax returns, ensuring accurate recording and timely remittance to the appropriate taxing jurisdictions
  • Analyze financial results and operational trends, providing insights and recommendations to management
  • Mentor and provide guidance to Staff Accountants and newer team members
  • Complete any other special projects and daily assignments as directed by management

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience preferred, including experience in month-end close, financial reporting, and reconciliations
  • Experience in multi-entity, hospitality, sports, entertainment, or service-based industries a plus
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, advanced formulas, and lookups
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes
  • Experience with Accounting ERP's, with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and month-end close deliverables in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with both financial and operational leadership
  • Client-focused mindset with a commitment to responsiveness, accountability, and exceptional client service
  • Ability to analyze financial information, identify variances or trends, and provide meaningful insights and recommendations
  • Ability to work independently while also mentoring and supporting junior accounting team members

TRAVEL DEMANDS

  • Ability to travel overnight to venue locations approximately 10% of the time
