Job Description

We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer who will be responsible for building and supporting governed data pipelines from enterprise source systems into Master Data Management and downstream endpoints, including APIs, data warehouse, data streams, reporting platforms, and AI-enabled use cases.

This role combines data engineering, integration engineering, disciplined software delivery, and strong cross-functional communication. The successful candidate will build reliable, scalable, and maintainable data flows while clearly communicating technical decisions, risks, trade-offs, timelines, and support needs to application, data, infrastructure, DevOps, analytics, and product teams.

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Design, build, and maintain production-grade data pipelines from source systems to MDM and downstream platforms.
  • Support batch, near-real-time, streaming, CDC, API-based, and database replication data movement patterns.
  • Deliver governed data to Snowflake, APIs, Solace streams, reporting layers, operational applications, and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Build and maintain data models, transformations, and curated data sets using Microsoft SQL, Snowflake, and DBT.
  • Work with business and data stakeholders to support golden records, reference data, entity resolution, data quality rules, and system-of-record definitions.
  • Implement validation, reconciliation, lineage, documentation, and auditability controls for critical data flows.
  • Support integration and delivery patterns using SnapLogic, Debezium, Solace, Gravitee, and related platforms.
  • Develop and package data engineering solutions for Docker, Kubernetes, and GreenLake-based environments.
  • Prepare releases for handoff to the infrastructure DevOps team, including release notes, deployment instructions, rollback considerations, and validation steps.
  • Provide Tier 2 support for data pipeline, integration, and data delivery issues escalated from operations or support teams.
  • Investigate production issues related to data flows, identify root causes, recommend fixes, and support resolution with infrastructure DevOps.
  • Apply disciplined SDLC practices, including requirements, design, development, testing, code review, release management, documentation, and support handoff.

Our Ideal Candidate will possess:

  • 5+ years experience as a Data Engineer, Integration Engineer, or similar role.
  • Proven experience building and supporting enterprise data pipelines.
  • Strong expertise with Microsoft SQL Server and modern data platforms (Snowflake preferred).
  • Experience with data transformation and modeling tools such as DBT.
  • Working knowledge of integration, API, CDC, and event-streaming patterns.
  • Experience with Docker and exposure to Kubernetes-based environments.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, Git workflows, and testing practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex data pipeline, integration, and data quality issues.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues, decisions, risks, and trade-offs clearly to business, application, data, infrastructure, DevOps, analytics, and product stakeholders.
  • Technical Judgment: Selects the right data solutions based on performance, scalability, and business needs
  • Data Stewardship: Maintains data integrity, quality, and trust across systems
  • Operational Discipline: Builds sustainable, supportable, and scalable data solutions
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Effectively translates technical concepts across teams
  • AI-Augmented Engineering: Leverages AI tools responsibly while maintaining high standards of quality and ownership

Preferred Qualifications (Considered an Asset):

  • Experience with Master Data Management, data governance, data quality, lineage, and data contracts.
  • Experience designing data products for APIs, reporting, analytics, operational systems, and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Familiarity with schema versioning, backward compatibility, access control, privacy, security, and auditability.
  • Experience supporting data platforms in enterprise, regulated, or operationally complex environments.
  • Exposure to tools such as SnapLogic, Debezium, Solace, and Gravitee.

Please note this is a hybrid position based out of Winnipeg or Mississauga.

This job is classified under NOC Code: 21231.
