We are seeking a skilled Manual Lathe Operator with hands on experience using traditional manual horizontal and/or vertical lathes. This role is strictly manual machining and does not involve CNC programming or CNC operation. The ideal candidate has strong experience running manual lathes making precise adjustments by hand, and working from blueprints to produce high quality parts.

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Manual Lathe Operator with hands on experience using traditional manual horizontal and/or vertical lathes. This role is strictly manual machining and does not involve CNC programming or CNC operation. The ideal candidate has strong experience running manual lathes making precise adjustments by hand, and working from blueprints to produce high quality parts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate manual machine tools including engine lathes.
- Set up machines and perform all adjustments manually including speeds, feeds, and tooling.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job specifications.
- Select tooling, materials, and machining methods without automated programming.
- Measure and inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
- Monitor machine performance and make real time manual adjustments to ensure quality.
- Maintain and calibrate manual equipment.
- Perform routine machine maintenance.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean workspace.
- Support team members and assist with shop tasks as needed
Important: This is a manual machining role only. Candidates whose experience is primarily or exclusively CNC will not be considered.
Qualifications:
- 1 to 3 years of hands on experience operating manual lathes.
- Strong ability to manually control speeds, feeds, and tool positioning.
- Proficient in blueprint reading and precision measurement.
- Experience with grinders and other manual shop equipment preferred.
- Experience with forklifts and overhead cranes is a plus.
- Basic computer skills for time tracking or data entry only, not machine programming.
- Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work independently in a production environment.
