PURPOSE:
The Construction Superintendent – Data Center Construction leads on-site construction activities for mission-critical data center projects. The Superintendent is responsible for day-to-day field operations, safety, schedule execution, and coordination of all trades to deliver high-quality, reliable data center facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities for data center building projects
- Coordinate and sequence work of subcontractors across all disciplines (civil, structural, architectural, MEP, IT fit-out)
- Enforce project safety plans and ensure compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety requirements
- Ensure construction activities comply with drawings, specifications, quality standards, and approved methods
- Develop and maintain short-term and look-ahead schedules in coordination with the project manager
- Lead daily coordination meetings, toolbox talks, and site walk-downs
- Monitor construction progress, productivity, and manpower levels
- Coordinate inspections with AHJs, third-party inspectors, and commissioning teams
- Support commissioning, integrated systems testing (IST), and phased turnovers
- Identify field issues, resolve conflicts, and escalate risks impacting safety, quality, or schedule
- Maintain site documentation including daily reports, RFIs, and punch lists
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7+ years of experience as a Superintendent or Lead Foreman on large commercial or industrial projects
- Proven experience delivering data center or other mission-critical facilities
- Strong understanding of MEP systems, especially critical power and cooling infrastructure
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple subcontractors in fast-paced environments
- Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and regulations
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and schedules
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities
- Proactive, hands-on management style
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Experience with hyperscale or colocation data center projects
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent
- Familiarity with commissioning and integrated systems testing (IST)
- Experience working on active or phased turnover facilities
- Construction management or technical trade background
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
