Job Description

JDR Cable Systems is a leading provider of subsea cable and umbilical solutions to the global energy industry. Our Services Team supports a wide range of oil & gas projects around the world, providing expert field support, installation services, and operational maintenance for critical offshore systems.

We are currently looking for experienced Oil & Gas Technicians to join our team as Field Service Technicians, supporting the delivery and maintenance of our equipment and services onshore and offshore, globally.

 

We are seeking a positive, conscientious, and committed candidate with a ‘can do’ attitude to support JDR products and services globally onshore and offshore as a Field Service Technician.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting installation, termination, and testing of subsea umbilicals and related equipment in offshore oil & gas environments.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, procedures, and customer specifications to execute scopes of work accurately and safely.
  • Assembling mechanical parts and subsea components to tight tolerances using appropriate sealants, compounds, and mechanical techniques.
  • Conducting swaging, pressure testing, and flushing of hydraulic and pneumatic hoses, and integrating into deployment systems (e.g., stab plates, winches).
  • Operating and supporting umbilical handling and Reeler systems during offshore deployment and recovery.
  • Completing all job-related documentation for project records and client reporting.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for JDR customers while in the field, representing the company with professionalism and technical expertise.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Ideally experience in the oil & gas sector, particularly in offshore field operations, subsea systems, or umbilical installations.
  • Strong background in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Familiarity with offshore equipment such as winches, reelers, stab plates, and pressure testing systems.
  • Knowledge of fibre optic cable handling is advantageous but not essential.
  • Ability to adapt in fast-paced environments and meet high standards for safety and quality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer focus.
  • Successful applicants will be required, as a condition of their employment, to obtain and maintain industry recognised offshore certificates for Oil and Gas and Wind farm; BOSIET and/or GWO. This includes the requirement by the Offshore Energies UK for all offshore workers not to weigh more than 124 kg (19.5 Stone).
