About The Role
The Metal Fabrication Laborer will support the Metal Fabrication department with hands-on production work, including cutting, grinding, fitting, and assembling metal components. In this full-time, hourly position, you will work closely with fabricators, welders, and supervisors to help ensure that parts and assemblies are produced accurately, safely, and on schedule. This role is ideal for someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, comfortable working with tools and machinery, and interested in learning and growing within a metal fabrication environment.
What You'll Do
- Assist with the fabrication of metal parts and assemblies according to drawings, specifications, and instructions
- Operate basic fabrication equipment such as saws, drills, grinders, shears, and other shop tools under supervision
- Measure, mark, and prepare materials for cutting, drilling, and forming
- Load, unload, move, and stage raw materials and finished products using manual methods or material-handling equipment as trained
- Perform basic layout, fitting, and assembly work to support welders and fabricators
- Deburr, grind, and clean metal components to required finishes
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company policies and safety regulations
- Inspect parts visually and with basic measuring tools to verify quality and report issues to supervisors
- Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
- Assist with general shop tasks, including inventory, packaging, and shipping preparation as needed
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines
- Participate in training to learn new tools, equipment, and fabrication techniques
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a metal fabrication, manufacturing, construction, or similar labor-intensive environment preferred but not required
- Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand and power tools
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions in English
- Willingness to learn how to read basic measurements (imperial/metric) and use measuring tools such as tape measures, squares, and calipers
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and products (often 50+ pounds) safely
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to safety practices
- Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors
- Willingness to work assigned shifts, including potential overtime as needed to meet production demands
- Legal authorization to work in the country of employment
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
