Painter Senior Supervisor
Job Description
Job Overview:
Oversee high-level painting and blasting operations across multiple fabrication crews while serving as the technical authority on coatings inspection. Drive absolute compliance with corporate business conduct, HSES, and quality policies. Enforce rigorous NACE/AMPP Level 2 standards across all surface preparation and coating applications. Architect schedules, mentor crew leaders, and approve final quality inspections to eliminate coating failures.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Establish master schedules and allocate complex work packages across multiple specialized crews
- Safety Leadership: Audit safety practices and mentor team leaders on conducting high-impact toolbox meetings
- NACE Quality Inspection: Perform hold-point inspections including environmental readings, surface profile testing, and dry film thickness (DFT) checks
- Technical Compliance: Enforce project-specific coating specifications in strict accordance with NACE/AMPP Level 2 standards
- Supply Chain Oversight: Audit high-volume material inventory and forecast long-term coating replenishment cycles
- Defect Resolution: Investigate coating failures or non-conformance reports (NCRs) and execute technical corrective action plans
- Stakeholder Coordination: Partner with engineering, third-party inspectors, and the blasting superintendent to resolve technical conflicts
- Asset Management: Authorize deployments of heavy access platforms, custom containments, and advanced coating equipment
- Systemic Improvements: Redesign standard operating procedures and technical work instructions to optimize field efficiency
- Environmental Compliance: Enforce strict regulatory protocols for the storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous coatings
- Data Administration: Verify final job code allocations, labor cost metrics, and crew timecards for payroll
- Production Governance: Lead project production meetings and present coating quality metrics to senior plant leadership
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Certification: Active NACE Level 2 (or AMPP Coating Inspector Program Level 2) certification is strictly required.
