Your Department
The Central Europe Institute (CEI), as part of AJC's International Offices, connects international communities with AJC’s global advocacy work to enhance the well-being of the Jewish people and Israel. They maintain the agency's overseas presence by connecting with key world leaders, enhancing the organization’s influence with other key local, national, and international decision makers and stakeholders, implementing advocacy initiatives and establishing and nurturing relationships with the local Jewish communities.
Your Impact
This position makes an impact at AJC by planning and managing work with moderate impact on the organization's mission and goals. Works with regular oversight to solve moderately complex problems and make significant impact decisions.
Incumbents in this job work to strengthen the Central Europe Institute (CEI) advocacy efforts through programming, research, outreach to CEI stakeholder institutions, and handling social media and website.
Your Role
Advocacy:
· Monitor activity in 7 countries on issues relevant to AJC’s advocacy – Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary. Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia
· Continuously develop knowledge of AJC’s key advocacy positions and have a good understanding of the underlying issues to be able to suggest relevant programs and speakers
· Support the Director in presenting these positions effectively to government officials, members of civil society and other key stakeholders, including diplomats and Members of applicable Parliaments and/or their staffs
· Stay abreast of and report to the Director and other staff on current events related to the Middle East, and in particular Israel
· Stay informed on diplomatic, political and Jewish communal matters in the regions’ 7 countries
· Assist in the identification and relationship development of key potential partners and other stakeholders throughout the region.
· Accompany the Director to meetings with key stakeholders
· Produce initial drafts of position papers, briefing documents, talking points and communication materials on key AJC advocacy focus areas
Programming:
· Research and identify areas of potential impact
· Prepare research and background briefings on key diplomatic issues
· Organize and execute conferences, panel discussions, and background briefings, where appropriate
· Create write-ups of events for the website
· Identify and contact speakers in coordination with the Director
Communications:
· Transition into leading the Twitter account for CEI.
· Draft press releases, as requested
· Continue to enhance CEI webpage as part of AJC”s website

Education, Training, and Experience
· Master’s degree
· Minimum of 7 years of related work experience in Government Institutes, Think Tank, Diplomacy, NGOs or related
· Intermediate job skills and knowledge

· Fluent in English (both written and spoken)
· Native in one of the following languages: Polish, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Lithuanian, Latvian or Estonian
· Ability to travel internationally
