What does the job involve?
Responsible for planning, scheduling and managing the movement of commodities. Includes supply scheduling logistics, analysis of system tankage inventories, managing control centres, and allocation and supply of energy production. May include communication with shippers for scheduling changes, volumes simulation through to ensure appropriate working levels and product quality maintenance by proper storage.You are utilizing your knowledge independently to solve highly complex tasks with a short to medium-term tactical impact/risk. You address key business challenges that align with Equinor's short and long-term strategy via providing specialist support to your team and others. You independently communicate within the immediate team, across other areas, and towards key stakeholders from partners or external parties. You regularly navigate conflicting agendas and may lead negotiations with senior stakeholders. You resolve challenges, deliver improvements and contribute to shaping best practices. You promote change initiatives, demonstrate flexibility to adopt new highly complex activities/ways of working and advice others. What will my tasks be?
Within this position, your key tasks will be to:
We are looking for one Product Operator. The Operations team in Stamford, CT is a small group of traders and commercial operators who work very closely together to manage Products by rail logistics business. The key to our success is a strong customer-in-focus culture. We have been growing and have significant plans for further growth. This gives the need for this new operator position.
The position will involve the following tasks:
Interacting directly with external companies to solve commercial challenges and implement the team’s plans
Learning how to direct and manage the railcar fleet including dialogue with our railroad reps and interacting with US railroad management systems
Managing volume flows from our suppliers and to our customers, maintaining good control of our inventory and reflecting / updating all within Equinor systems.
Getting involved with experienced team members (both traders and operators) in managing our contracts and ultimately helping to create new deals and ideas during our growth phase
Participation in a project to digitize railcar fleet management
Follow safety, ethics and compliance requirements and align with leadership expectations and company values.
Contribute to other team logistics, such as Barge, Pipeline, etc.

5+ years of experience working with logistics
Confidence working with data and analyzing problems, using spreadsheets and Equinor systems
Belief they can develop into a strong communicator, and a wish to develop negotiation skills and build third party relationships
Has either some rail or other operations or logistics experience, and who wants to get involved in a detailed logistics-based business, ultimately making and actioning commercial decisions
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, proficiency with analytical tools (Excel)
Ability to work under pressure and manage time efficiently
Experience working with rail logistics highly desirable
Expertise with automated analytical tools desirable
