This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted. No relocation is offered.
The Tax Specialist supports the State and Local Tax Audit Management function by assisting audit managers with state and local transaction tax audits. This entry-level role is responsible for gathering, organizing, and analyzing data requested by auditors; supporting tax research related to audit findings; and developing a working understanding of transaction tax processes, including research and planning, compliance, exemptions, taxability, and billing systems.
Key Responsibilities
Assist audit managers throughout the state and local tax audit process, including data collection, analysis, documentation, and response preparation.
Gather, organize, and analyze data needed to support auditor requests and audit findings.
Research state and local tax laws and regulations, with guidance, to help evaluate audit positions and support responses.
Develop working knowledge of transaction tax processes, including research and planning, compliance, exemptions, taxability, and billing systems.
Prepare clear and accurate audit documentation, schedules, summaries, and related materials.
Communicate professionally with auditors and internal business partners to support an efficient and well-documented audit process.
Apply judgment within established practices, policies, and procedures when reviewing data, selecting methods, and evaluating audit support.
Qualifications / Experience
Entry-level role; prior experience in tax, audit, accounting, or data analysis is helpful but not required.
Ability to learn state and local transaction tax concepts, audit processes, and related systems.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with audit managers, internal teams, and auditors.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired. 2+ years of related experience. Certification is required in some areas.
