TRUMPF Applications Engineers are a vital part in showcasing our technology to our customers. This role is instrumental in demonstrating the various advantages of TRUMPF products and convincing customers to purchase our products. Applications Engineer is regarded as the subject matter expert in all questions regarding Tube Laser Cutting, Programming and especially tube design possibilities. The applications engineer supports customers and the sales network during the purchasing decision and provides on-going telephone or on-site support throughout the product lifecycle.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
- Serves as the expert for TruLaser Tube technology. Additionally, fully capable to explain machine options and operate TRUMPF tube machines
- Independently organize and conduct persuasive customer demonstrations and industry trade shows
- Evaluate customer parts and create programs to effectively demonstrate tube laser machine. Recognize any necessary part design changes and consult customers on modifications to make their parts easier to weld and assemble.
- Collaborate with designers to incorporate the benefits of tube laser processing advantages.
- Generate customer time estimates, provide recommendations for product selection and produce sample parts
- Consult customers on application issues for existing and potential customers
- Conduct operator training, and on-site applications support for customers
- Travel to customer sites to support with challenging sales or production processes (Travel time ~ 20-30%)
- Help new customers with the startup phase to smoothly go to production phase
Experience
- Previous experience in a Tube and Sheet-metal manufacturing environment, ideally in a role that provided experience in programming, designing and operating production equipment.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills are required as this position involves extensive interaction with customers.
- Experienced with solid modeling software, along with excellent skills with Microsoft office products, especially Excel, and Power Point.
- Be able to organize own schedule and juggle multiple projects effectively.
- Maintain an organized workplace, both in the office and digital workspace.
- TRUMPF product knowledge preferred.
- Ability to regularly lift 20-50 lbs. willing to operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
