POSITION SUMMARY: Borst Landscaping is hiring a Human Resources Generalist to support daily HR operations for Borst Landscaping (Allendale, NJ) and Back to Nature (Basking Ridge, NJ). This role is focused on new hire onboarding, employee engagement, and providing HR support to both field and office employees.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support local field staff recruiting efforts, including hiring events and initiatives
- Manage pre-employment processes, including background checks, drug screenings, and related requirements
- Coordinate and facilitate onboarding for field and office employees
- Conduct new hire orientations and maintain onboarding documentation and personnel files
- Ensure compliance with federal requirements by maintaining and processing I-9 records
- Support seasonal workforce processes, including rehires and layoffs
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment and respond to benefit-related inquiries
- Provide support on leave programs, including FMLA, state leaves, and company policies
- Drive employee engagement initiatives and recognition programs
- Conduct new hire check-ins to assess satisfaction and engagement
- Perform exit interviews and analyze feedback trends to improve retention
- Maintain accurate employee data within Workday HRIS
- Support additional HR projects and initiatives as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1–3 years of Human Resources experience required
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
- Experience with onboarding processes, I-9 compliance, and E-Verify preferred
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with Workday HRIS preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build relationships while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Position is based out of the Allendale, NJ location 3 days per week, and will support Basking Ridge, NJ location onsite 2 days per week.

Position Range:
$72,000 - $85,400
