Overview:

 

The Supervisor Final Assembly (FA) will be directly responsible for running the daily operation during the second shift.  This will include driving consistency among the shifts with other supervisors.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Direct responsibility for the Final Assembly 2cnd shift operations including production and the production staff.
  • Ensures accurate record keeping on 2cnd shift, including employee timekeeping and essential production records.
  • Prioritizes production schedules for 2cnd shift, including manpower requirements, product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply.
  • Implements technical changes and process improvements, as needed.
  • Makes budgetary recommendations and is responsible for controlling capital expenditures, expenses and direct/indirect labor cost.
  • Drives production integration and documentation of changes in product/ technology.
  • Identifies, quantifies and implements process improvement opportunities.
  • Participates and may lead integrated product teams focused on promoting product design changes to enhance manufacturing capability.
  • Participates and may lead new product introduction teams and coordinate the commissioning of next generation product lines.
  • Participates and may lead integrated value stream teams focused on sustaining and continuously improving quality.
  • Responsible for preparing financial reviews and cost analyses.
  • Responsible for overall staffing and performance of production operators on 2cnd shift.
  • Contributes to the planning of department capital, salary and overhead.
  • Contributes to the planning of annual business milestones and initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred.  HS diploma (or equivalent) and 5+ years of relevant experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree will be considered.

 

Experience & Skills:  Minimum 2 years of experience in a production management role.  Experience in a high volume production, automated equipment environment is a plus.

 

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast paced, cross functional, team oriented work environment
  • Ability to lead a multi-functional product teams a plus. 
  • Experience participating in and providing input to a product design review process
  • Experience with coordinating root cause analysis teams utilizing industry recognized problem solving disciplines and working knowledge of root cause techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization. 
  • Must be customer-centric to both internal and external customers
  • Proven ability to manage a team effectively with a strong orientation to developing and growing talent.
  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma and experience leveraging Lean tools strongly desired
  • Experience with implementation and monitoring of Statistical Process Control systems and ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference strongly desired
  • Must have a ‘hands-on’ approach to learning and understanding the process steps in the department in order to quickly identify known or suspect quality issues and root causes.
  • Proven track record of leading and driving change.
  • Must be able to plan projects and track production utilizing project management software (preferably Microsoft Project). 
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and experience with Access is a plus

 

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

 

  • Able to move effectively and timely in and around 70,000+ square foot cement floored manufacturing facility
  • Able to move effectively and timely between external office buildings
  • Be able and willing to wear required personal protective equipment as designated such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and other PPE as required
  • Must be able to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment
  • Ability to travel to vendor locations as required
  • Must be willing and able to work periods of extended shifts, typically but not limited to 10 hours in duration during critical work evolutions.
  • Occasional work in a lift truck to heights of up to 30 feet above the ground may be required.
