The Opportunity:

The College of Arts and Sciences Washington State University Vancouver invites applicants for a year-round, full-time position as a Research Technologist 1 within the School of Biological Sciences. We are seeking an individual with demonstrated laboratory experience and enthusiasm for research.

As a Research Technologist you will support ongoing research on the genomic basis of adaptation and phenotypic variation. Your primary focus will be on assisting ongoing lab operations and the analysis of genomic data. You should have strong organization skills, familiarity with Drosophila biology and relevant methods, and background in evolutionary biology and population genetics, coding skills, and biostatistics. As a Research Technologist you will also support the generation of new and ongoing experimental studies and assist lab members with relevant protocols and analyses. 

Additional Information:

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Expected start date of employment is July 10, 2026.


Monthly Salary: $3,417.00 to $4,542.00 | Range 38 Steps A-M | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years experience as a laboratory technician, research aide, OR equivalent; OR a Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate field of science OR technology; OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Demonstrated experience working in a research laboratory setting.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong coding skills, a solid background in evolutionary biology, population genetics, and biostatistics.
