Summary

Forklift Driver 1 operates a variety of forklifts. Requires loading and unloading milling machines and lathes on various flat bed trailers, into high cube containers, and onto flat racks for shipment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Interpret different modes of service, and can effectively rearrange priorities to ensure setup of bases for preparation of shipment.
  • Monitor priority of pulling machines from the production lines.
  • Determines combinations of loads onto the variety of trailers. This ability provides for the most effective use of the Carrier equipment dispatched to pick up from Haas.
  • Thorough understanding of the Bill of Lading and the requirements for completing this paperwork upon relinquishing machines to Carriers.
  • Capable of unloading all materials received from Basaw and determining that the materials noted on the receiver are what were actually received.
  • Interpret the dispatch board, and follow the instructions as noted.
  • Can easily identify all bases, and walls, and set up for preparation in 5 minutes.
  • Employee must be able to operate both powered and non-powered material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jack, cranes, and mobile straddle stacker lift.
  • Employees must report any damage to a supervisor or manager.

• Employees are expected to follow instructions, procedures and to escalate any issue impacting workflow, quality, etc.

• Employees must exhibit honesty and integrity as well as demonstrate adherence to rules, procedures and policies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable of the Carriers and works well with the drivers.
  • Maintains an active Haas Forklift certification.
  • Has sound knowledge of each model of machine.
  • Have excellent organizational skills. Makes decisions based on logic and rational thought.
  • Thorough understanding of safe working practices, the power of the machinery, and the necessity to follow all safety guidelines.

Education

High school diploma or high school equivalency (HSE) credential such as general education degree (GED) is required, plus an additional one to three months related experience, training and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
