Job Description

Who we are:

The Gill Corporation is one of the world's largest manufacturers of honeycomb, high performance floor panels, cargo compartment liners and original equipment for passenger and freighter aircraft. The company also excels in many other types of reinforced plastics including interior sandwich panels for creating structures such as aircraft galleys and bulkheads, honeycomb core and related products.

 

The Gill Corporation is seeking a Junior Quality Engineer to assist in performing inspections, conducting root cause analysis, managing non-conformances, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, production and supply chain to ensure product quality from design through delivery.

 

Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the Junior Quality Engineer will perform but not be limited to the following responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow all company policies and procedures, including all safety protocols.
  • Comprehend and ensure compliance with internal quality documents and customer specifications.
  • Perform (as needed in a supporting function) sample preparation and specimen testing to conform to established requirements.
  • Support QC Lab functions by creating, reviewing, and revising test procedures based on customer specifications, drawings, and/or industry standards.
  • Identify, segregate, and document nonconforming products for disposition.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance of various equipment (as needed in a supporting function).
  • Observe good housekeeping in performance of job duties. Understand the hazards associated with assigned work activity and abide by established procedures in handling and use of materials.
  • Proficient on Statistical Process Control (SPC) documentation and interpretation.
  • Conduct internal audits in accordance with AS 9100. Ensure compliance with internal procedures, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications
  • Manage assigned customer complaints. Coordinate with cross-function team to ensure customer complaints and corrective actions are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Review, update, implement changes and establish standards to controlled documents (GOS, GMS, GPS...)
  • Generate first article inspection (FAI) documentation to AS 9102 standards
  • Experience running gage R&R analysis on processes requiring a greater understanding of overall capability
  • Review quality standards and provide technical support for process/product improvements
  • Perform Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA).
  • Read and understand customer specifications, process standards, ANSI procedures, industry standards and drawings (blue print).
  • Understanding GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and ASME Y14.5 standard preferred.
  • Other essential duties may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in related field (Aerospace Engr, Mechanical Engr, Industrial Engr…) or Three (3) years in quality experience
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and other ISO standards. ASQ auditor certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to details, highly organized, computer literate
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced professional office environment
  • Language Skills: English
