About the Role
We are looking for an Area Head of Operational Excellence to lead Operational Excellence across WAF with overall leadership accountability for TMW deployment, Continuous Improvement and FINOPS oversight.
This role is a senior leadership position responsible for setting direction, driving execution and leading a large multi‑disciplinary organisation of approximately 50 FTEs, including the WAF FINOPS Manager and WAF CI Partners.
The role also carries a significant transformation mandate, overseeing multiple system implementations and supporting the Area’s offshoring and capability‑building journey over the next 6–18 months.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Operational Excellence & The Maersk Way (TMW):
- Lead the deployment of The Maersk Way (TMW) as a full operating model, embedding standard ways of working, behaviours and routines across the Area.
- Support the Area MD and ALT in defining, executing and tracking business priorities through structured performance management and KPI governance.
- Drive adoption of core OpEx tools and behaviours, including problem solving, Kaizen, visual management (E‑VMS) and performance routines.
- Lead cross‑functional E2E process reviews and process mapping, translating outcomes into learning materials and onboarding packs.
- Act as the Area conduit to Regional and Global OpEx teams for all TMW‑related tools, standards, and deployments.
FINOPS Oversight & Governance:
- Provide overall leadership and governance for FINOPS across the Area, through the WAF FINOPS Manager.
- Ensure strong Area‑level outcomes across customer invoicing, revenue recognition, cost vs revenue control, contracts, pricing and reconciliations.
- Partner closely with Finance, CX, AP and BCO to ensure financial discipline, RICC compliance, and audit readiness.
- Ensure FINOPS processes, controls and performance are embedded into the broader Operational Excellence framework.
Transformation & System Implementations
- Own and coordinate Area‑level delivery of major implementations planned over the next 6–18 months, including:
- TMS
- Telikos
- MDMS
- NFTP LNS
- Drive strong change management, stakeholder alignment and adoption across legacy and new system landscapes.
- Ensure continuity, stability and operational readiness during transitions.
- Support and enable continued offshoring initiatives, ensuring process maturity, clarity and sustainability.
People Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead, coach and develop a large, diverse leadership organisation (~50 FTE) across FINOPS and CI.
- Build strong capability, succession plans and leadership depth across the Area.
- Drive accountability, ownership and continuous improvement culture at all levels.
- Influence and challenge senior stakeholders in a complex matrix environment.
What we’re Looking For
Experience & Technical Competencies
- Proven senior leadership experience in Operational Excellence, FINOPS or large‑scale operational roles.
- Experience leading multi‑site, multi‑country or Area‑level organisations.
- Strong exposure to TMW / OpEx / Lean / CI frameworks as enablers of business results.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex changes and system implementations.
- Strong governance, performance management and KPI‑driven mindset.
Leadership & Behavioural Competencies
- Strategic yet hands‑on execution leader.
- Ability to translate enterprise strategy into local delivery.
- Comfortable leading through change and ambiguity.
- Strong stakeholder management and influence at senior levels.
- Clear, confident communicator able to simplify complexity.
Additional Requirements
- Fluency in English and French (both written and spoken) is an added advantage.
- Willingness to travel within the area
