Job Description

Job Objective: To assist in maintaining property and grounds in accordance with acceptable standards of safety, cleanliness and appearance.  Property includes building, grounds, vehicles and equipment serving the building. Operates vehicle(s) to make pick up/deliveries of materials or transport of personnel 

 

Essential Functions:  

  • Repair and maintain property including building 
  • Maintain building exterior, including lawn, shrubs, trees, parking and public areas and snow removal 
  • Using hand and/or power tools, repairs, installs and provides basic maintenance services 
  • Perform minimal janitorial/custodial services 
  • Operate truck or other owned equipment in the delivery and pickups 
  • Maintain records and conducts periodic checks on vehicles and building equipment 
  • Schedule needed vehicle and building service 

 

Minimum Qualifications:  

Education: High School or equivalent; vocational training in construction, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical repair preferred 

 

Experience: Minimum two years’ experience in maintenance or construction field 

 

Certifications/LicensesNone 

 

Skills/Abilities: 

  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in building related skills and trades 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of basic hand and power tools 
  • Ability to sustain physical activity both inside and outside for extended periods of time 
  • Ability to and to operate basic building maintenance equipment 
  • Ability to read and understand schedules, work orders and product safety information 
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and meet work schedules on timely basis with minimum of direct supervision 
  • Ability to work irregular and extended hours when requiredWillingness to accept on call assignments during building emergencies 
  • Position requires a confident, self-motivated, multi-tasked individual with integrity in the use of resources 
  • Act in a manner consistent with the Mission of The Salvation Arm 

 

Supervisory Responsibility: None 

  

Physical Requirements: Include standing, walking, climbing, and kneeling for extended periods of time; lifting up to 50 poundsReasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job. 

 

Travel: Day travel can occur on a daily basis 

 

Driving: Position requires the ability to drive. Employee must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. 

          

Working Conditions: Work is performed both indoors and outdoorsMay require irregular and/or extended hours on periodically.
