Job Summary
Under the direction of radiologist, performs Cat Scan Procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for imaging diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.
This position is two to three weekdays per week, typically Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 12p-830p. Additional weekend coverage as needed.
Essential Functions
Patient and Room Preparation: This task includes a) entering patient data into Epic and other appropriate computer systems as necessary. b) Placing the patient on the scan table in the correct position for the scan to be performed. c) Obtain appropriate scout image for procedure.
Obtain cross sectional images: This task includes the proper setting of protocols and sequences to obtain high quality images for diagnosis by the radiologist.
Direct involvement during procedure: This task involves a) the assistance at the side of the radiologist during biopsy procedures as needed. b) Constant attention to the progression of the procedure while in the control room, monitoring progression of biopsy procedure c) Involved with operating injector when necessary.
Photographing and processing of images: This task includes photographing and labeling scan images, processing and displaying final images on viewing machines for radiologist interpretation.
Maintain all necessary records of image slices, injections, etc.
Observe all rules and regulations regarding radiation safety for patients and staff.
Train other associates and students in CAT Scan procedures.
Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of assigned area.
Perform duties of a 4T technologist as needed.
Perform other related assigned tasks
REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Satisfactory completion of a formal radiologic technology training program that meets the requirements for certification by the ARRT.
NYS Licensed/Registered Radiologic Technologist. ARRT Certification in CT.
Radiographic film processor
