Janitorial PPE Lead

SUMMARY: The Janitorial/PPE Lead oversees the daily operations of the plant’s custodial and PPE attendant team, ensuring a safe, clean, and compliant work environment. This role directs team activities, enforces standard operating procedures, and ensures consistent monitoring of welfare areas while maintaining accurate records of prescribed checks and PPE inventory.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following:

• Ensure department personnel follow the established procedures for maintaining the cleanliness of plant welfare areas.
• Ensure PPE room is stocked and maintained to support plant needs and PPE is handed out according to established procedures.
• Ensure prescribed checks and monitoring of all welfare areas are carried out as required.
• Ensure accurate inventory and ordering for PPE rooms.
• Coordinate employee activities and training for department, with the help of the EHS Manager and training department.
• Maintain proper records of prescribed checks and PPE inventory.
• Understand, support, and help implement/maintain the Operating Policies, and Daily’s safety programs.
• Understand, support and help implement goals and objectives, and continuous improvement plans and activities.
• Perform other duties and assignments as directed by management.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Trains and coaches employees under the direction of the EHS Manager.  Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include training new employees, planning, assigning, directing work and resolving problems.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to write simple correspondence preferred.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers and management.  Bilingual skills preferred.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical formulas to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, occasionally lift up to 45 pounds and sometimes push/and or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to wet, cold and/or humid conditions in both inside and outside environments.  The noise level in the work environment is usually at a level where OSHA required hearing protection is required.

 

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:  The hours and days of work are established at the discretion of management and may be adjusted (increased or decreased) by management as required.  Must be able to work a flexible schedule as necessary.  Must be able to work weekends and holidays as scheduled by customer product demand.
