Roll Label Finisher Job Description The Roll Label Finishing operator is responsible for the inspection and cutting of printed roll materials while monitoring tension, labels, and roll count of all finished products.  In addition, they are responsible for performing manual and mechanical tasks to install and operate rewinding machinery.  Machinery:  Arpeco Tracker, Arpeco Tracker Inspector, and Rotoflex. Essential Functions: Roll Inspection: Before beginning work, an appropriate line clearance must be performed. Inspect using AVT, thread the machine, and begin a “set-up” in the AVT system to obtain a “master sheet”.  Obtain approval of the same.  This “set-up” will help inspect labels electronically.  If the AVT system stops during the run, inspection will be performed visually. Visually inspect and remove defective areas from printed press rolls. The following attributes will be monitored during the finishing inspection process: print registration, print-to-cut registration, varnish appearance, die, missing label spaces, splice joints, roll cuts, torn edges, label count, heat-sensitive labels, adhesive crystallization on the printed side of “heat seal” paper. The finishing inspector will discard any material that does not comply with established standards and customer specifications. Inspection results will be documented in the (“Arpeco Tracker AVT Report”).  Documentation will be placed inside the envelope corresponding to the job. Challenge/verify the accuracy of the machine counting mechanism. Maintain product segregation and security Maintain complete and accurate documentation Maintain the work area clean and organized Follow cGMP rules and customer specifications at all times Follow all safety standards and regulations Roll Cutting: Before beginning work, an appropriate line clearance must be performed Once the required documentation is completed, feed the paper through the machine rewinder and adjust the following equipment and/or instruments: counting mechanism, set knives, splice detectors, inspection light, pattern, and roll tension. The following attributes will be monitored during the cutting process: print registration, print-to-cut registration, varnish appearance, die, missing label spaces, splice joints, roll cuts, torn edges, label count, heat-sensitive labels, adhesive crystallization on the printed side of “hear seal” paper. Cut printed rolls into individual rolls according to customer specifications. Create master labels used to identify finished cut rolls. Send nonconforming rolls to the “Rework” department for rework.  Perform rework if required. Cut “cores” for each job. Cutting results will be documented on the form (Arpeco Tracker Slitting/Rewinding Report).
