The Senior Reliability Engineer for Finning Canada will perform as advanced subject matter expert helping with identification and resolution of technical issues on mining equipment. Actively supporting the regional branch assigned the Senior Reliability Engineer will manage communication around technical issues and special projects, ensuring customer product availability is maintained and enhanced through problem with data available. As part of the regional branch, process work with internal entities (Mining Technical, OEM, etc.) as well as external vendors to gather information from the field, allowing for the identifying, gathering, and analyzing to assist and resolve quality problems. When issues arise work with Customer Service manager, field service personnel, distributor, and customer to identify root cause, leading a process of creating technical resolution for short and long-term issues.Job Description:
With a developed, implemented, and managed strategic Mining account Plan, the key responsibilities will be centric to 4 key areas, identify and resolve technical issues, support and monitor product reliability and performance, Relationship, Process improvements & special projects
Identify & Resolve Technical Issues
Manage activities involving in-depth technical support and expertise to maintain performance and availability of customer machines
Manage and track all service letters and updates for equipment on site
Provide technical support working with Caterpillar and Technical services to drive improvement projects
Identify, report and support investigation, and root cause analysis on equipment failures including field research and data collection
Mining equipment condition monitoring: downloading and analyzing electronic information, contamination control/fluid analysis
Technical support for maintenance personnel and technical problem solutions as needed
Product Reliability and Performance
Support and monitor Finning recovery process, measure Finning performance using warranty claim metrics, identify performance gaps and develop action plan to correct with multiple groups internally
Periodical (monthly, quarterly or as required) fleet reports on various technical and operational indicators
Mining equipment condition monitoring: downloading and analyzing electronic information, contamination control/fluid analysis
Monitoring and developing trend information on payload management practices
Coordination and support for Caterpillar requests, test equipment and product improvement initiatives
Management of Caterpillar technical information and product improvement information
Customer Relationship Development/Management
Primary liaison between Caterpillar support model and consult with Engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to obtain requested solutions
Strong team working abilities to develop effective collaboration with peers and consistency across all sites
Support internal Finning and customer on parts process and stocking requirements
Leadership, capable to develop motivation, vision
Working with and strategizing with customer in internal stakeholders
Process Improvements
Data collection, reporting and analysis on component performance, work with internal teams and customer on CI projects for component enhancement
Support and drive process improvement with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to manage multiple priorities to effectively manage risk to the business
Coordination and support for Caterpillar requests, test equipment and product improvement initiatives
Education & Experience
Post-secondary Education in Mechanical, Mining or Material Engineering
Professional registration and/or membership in committees and/or technical societies
Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in an industrial environment such as mining, oil and gas is desired
Experience with CAT mining equipment, including Large Mining Machine, would be an asset
Experience in CAT instruments: SIS2.0, Dealer Connect, TMIWEB, ET and VIMS will be an asset
Experience in equipment design, engineering drawings, design standards and specifications
Mechanical aptitudes, including understanding of Mining Machine components (diesel engines, hydraulic systems, powertrain, pumps, cylinders, structures etc.)
Experience in cross-functional team assignments
Experience in condition monitoring including SOS
Proficiency in MS Office packages
Understanding of manufacturing/fabrication methodologies
Accuracy in work and strong attention to details
Time management, prioritization, and independent problem-solving skills
