Please DO NOT apply if you are not a part of this program.      Title: Green Jobs Workforce Trainee, JumpStart ProgramDepartment: Mission AdvancementReports to: Sector Navigator, Green JobsSupervises: N/A FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt Pay Rate: $25.00/hour     Employment Type: Temporary, during JumpStart Program Duration: Up to 240 hours total (completed in 6 weeks/full-time or 12 weeks/part-time) Benefits: This is a temporary, program-based role and is ineligible.   About the Position The Green Jobs Workforce Trainee is a temporary, paid, work-based learning role for JumpStart participants placed with a clean energy or skilled-trades employer partner. Trainees complete up to 240 hours of hands-on, supervised work experience and participate in required JumpStart workshops. The goal of the role is to build real-world job skills, gain resume-building experience, and transition into unsubsidized employment or an apprenticeship pathway. Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. Duties vary by Host Site and may include Entry-Level tasks that support Clean Energy & Skilled-Trades work, such as: Assisting with job site setup and cleanup, tool and materials handling, and basic inventory support Supporting experienced trades staff with routine tasks under supervision (electrical, HVAC, solar, weatherization, construction support, or related roles) or supporting experienced professionals in computer, phone-based, or in-person project management or customer service tasks within the construction or the green economy. Following safety procedures and participating in safety briefings and required training Practicing professional workplace skills including punctuality, communication, teamwork, and problem solving Attending required JumpStart workshops (including Climate 101, Clean Energy 101, and Program Enrollment/New Hire Orientation) Program Supports (What Trainees Can Expect) Paid work experience with a participating employer partner Career and employment support services and navigation through the JumpStart program, including connection to hiring opportunities after completion Position Requirements: Qualifications under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) To successfully perform this job, individuals must be able to complete each essential duty satisfactorily. Qualifications Interest in green jobs and/or skilled trades career pathways (including electrical, HVAC, solar, project management, manufacturing, and related roles) Ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and learn on the job Ability to consistently show up on time and communicate schedule changes promptly Commitment to a respectful, inclusive workplace Safety and Compliance Trainees are expected to comply with all safety rules, policies, and instructions from the host site and program staff. This role does not require independent, unsupervised trade work. Physical Requirements & Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee will require: Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and work outdoors or at active job sites (varies by host employer) Ability to use basic hand tools and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when applicable Ability to follow site safety rules at all times, and OSHA 10 certified for all field-based roles Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills.
