Hourly rate: $17.16 - $20.38 p/hr.

Position Summary:
The Nurse Extern will work under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Works collaboratively with the patient care team.
- Performs direct patient care under the direction, delegation and supervision of a registered nurse.
- Documents patient care given.
- Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to the supervising RN.
- Maintains positive professional relationships with patients/families, coworkers, and health care teams.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
- Supports performance improvement philosophy.
Required Skills:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.:
Minimum Education:
- School of Nursing 3rd year student or higher.
Licenses/Certifications: Basic Life Support Health Care (BLS-HSP).
