Job Description

Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal
Kingston Vets | Sherborne, Dorset

Salary Up To £65,000 FTE DOE plus relocation allowance up to £3,000 and welcome bonus up to £5,000

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

For over 100 years, Kingston Vets has been at the heart of the local community, earning a reputation as a trusted and progressive small animal practice. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our team who enjoys clinical autonomy and wants to play a key role in shaping the future of the practice.

Our varied caseload includes cats, dogs, rabbits and small furries, with a strong emphasis on case continuity and high clinical standards. You’ll enjoy a balanced mix of consultations and surgery, with routine work alongside orthopaedics, dental procedures, splenectomies and a wide range of more complex medical and surgical cases. This is a role where you can truly take ownership of your cases, follow them through and take pride in delivering excellent clinical outcomes.

Operating across two purpose-built practices in Sherborne and Yeovil, you’ll have access to excellent facilities at both sites. These include digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, laparoscopic equipment and separate cat and dog wards with isolation.
We’re also proud to hold Silver ISFM status, reflecting our commitment to delivering exceptional feline-friendly care.

You’ll be joining a collaborative and experienced team of six vets, six RVNs, two SVNs and a dedicated client care team. We also benefit from the support of a visiting orthopaedic specialist for more complex cases.

We actively encourage professional development and are happy to support certificates or further training aligned with your clinical interests.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.
• This is a part-time role working 8:30am – 6:30pm across two days, with a 1 in 3 Saturday morning rota (8:30am–12:30pm).
• There are no out-of-hours or on-call commitments, giving you the time to fully enjoy life outside of work.

You Might Be a Great Fit If...

You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to delivering high-quality patient and client care. You’ll bring:

• A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS
• Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
