Job Summary

SHI is introducing the role of Vice President - Group Accounting as a critical leadership position to elevate and modernise the global accounting function.

This role will be instrumental in strengthening governance, enhancing internal controls, and building a best‑in‑class financial reporting capability as SHI transitions to a Big 4 external auditor.

The VP - Group Accounting will drive audit readiness, technical excellence, and global standardisation—ensuring the Accounting function operates with the highest levels of integrity, transparency, and scalability to support SHI’s continued global growth.

Role Description

1. Leadership & Organisation

  • Lead and develop a global accounting organisation of ~20 FTE across the US and UK
  • Build a high‑performance culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and excellence
  • Develop clear career pathways and succession planning across the Accounting function
  • Establish Accounting as a destination function, attracting top talent from across Finance

2. Financial Close, Reporting & Consolidation

  • Overall owner of the end‑to‑end accounting cycle, including monthly close, consolidation, and results production
  • Ensure high‑quality, timely reporting with strong performance and control discipline, culminating in formal monthly CFO reviews
  • Own Group consolidation processes across all entities, currencies, and business lines
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and transparency of reported financial results

3. Statutory Reporting & Compliance

  • Own all entity statutory reporting across IFRS and local GAAP requirements globally
  • Ensure compliance with jurisdictional regulations and filing obligations
  • Maintain a robust framework for managing multi‑territory reporting complexity

4. Audit & Governance

  • Full ownership of the Group audit process, including calendar, execution, issue management, and sign‑off
  • Lead the transition to a Big 4 audit environment, establishing audit‑ready processes and documentation
  • Strengthen governance frameworks, accounting policies, and internal controls
  • Act as the primary interface with external auditors and key stakeholders

5. Controls & Risk Management

  • Conduct a comprehensive review of the control environment across Accounting
  • Design and implement a best‑in‑class internal control framework aligned with leading practices
  • Establish sustainable controls over financial reporting (including SOX‑readiness where relevant)
  • Drive remediation of control gaps and continuous improvement of control effectiveness

6. Technical Accounting & Policy

  • Own Group technical accounting, including complex areas such as: 
    • Revenue recognition (ASC 606)
    • Multi-element arrangements (hardware, software, cloud, services)
  • Ensure robust documentation, judgment frameworks, and policy governance
  • Serve as the central authority for accounting interpretation and standards application
  • Proactively assess and manage the impact of new accounting standards

7. Transformation & Continuous Improvement

  • Define and execute a global roadmap to elevate Accounting across: 
    • Technical accounting capability
    • Reporting quality and timeliness
    • Control environment maturity
  • Develop clear resourcing plans to support transformation objectives
  • Standardise and simplify processes across regions and entities
  • Drive automation and efficiency across accounting workflows

8. Systems Ownership & ERP Transformation

  • Own all core Accounting systems, including ERP, BlackLine, and WorkViva
  • Lead Accounting’s role in the ERP transformation programme (commencing 2026), including: 
    • End‑to‑end process design and workflow ownership
    • Control integration and standardisation
    • Training, adoption, and change management
  • Partner closely with the executive PMO and leadership team to provide input, challenge, and recommendations
  • Ensure Accounting requirements are fully embedded in system design and delivery

9. Business Partnership & Strategic Support

  • Partner with Finance, FP&A, Tax, and Operations to support business decision‑making
  • Improve financial insight, reporting clarity, and executive decision support
  • Support strategic initiatives, including M&A integration (where relevant), new business models, and expansion



Skill Level Requirements

Experience

  • 15+ years in progressive accounting leadership roles, including global controllership
  • Proven experience leading accounting functions in complex, multi‑entity, multi‑jurisdiction organisations
  • Significant experience working with Big 4 auditors, including leading external audits
  • Demonstrated track record in building governance, controls, and audit‑ready environments
  • ERP transformation experience (design, implementation, or major upgrade)
  • Experience in technology, distribution, services, or similarly complex revenue environments preferred

Technical Expertise

  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS (dual-reporting experience highly desirable)
  • Strong technical accounting capability, particularly in revenue recognition (ASC 606)
  • Experience with consolidation, multi-currency accounting, and statutory reporting
  • Familiarity with BlackLine, Workiva, and modern ERP platforms

Leadership & Personal Attributes

  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence at Board and C‑suite level
  • High intellectual rigour with strong attention to detail and control discipline
  • Proven leader of high‑performing teams across geographies
  • Change agent with a track record of transformation and continuous improvement
  • Strong communication skills—able to translate complex accounting into clear business insight

Qualifications

  • Chartered Accountant / CPA (or equivalent) required
  • Big 4 training strongly preferred
