Outbound Transportation Planning Manager
The Outbound Transportation Planning Manager leads and oversees all aspects of outbound transportation planning to support retail store delivery operations. This role is accountable for setting strategy, driving network level performance, and ensuring execution of cost effective, reliable, and scalable transportation solutions.
The Outbound Transportation Planning partners closely with internal and external business partners to optimize delivery performance, strengthen reporting and analytics, and advance continuous improvement initiatives across the network. This position plays a critical role in supporting TJX growth objectives, controlling transportation cost, mitigating operational risk, and supporting the company’s unique treasure hunt customer experience.
What You’ll Do
- Own and manage Dynamic Routing and outbound transportation KPIs at a network and regional level, including capacity utilization, service, and cost performance; hold providers accountable to contractual and operational expectations
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action planning for systemic performance gaps, service disruptions, or cost variances
- Develop and execute medium and long term outbound transportation strategies aligned with business growth, seasonal volume shifts, and network changes
- Build and maintain relationships with internal partners and external providers to influence outcomes and drive cross functional alignment
- Partner with Regional Transportation Managers and Carrier Management to ensure carrier strategy, performance management, and escalation models are effective and consistent
- Define, prioritize, and sponsor network wide continuous improvement initiatives that deliver measurable service, cost, and productivity gains
- Provide oversight for transportation related system enhancements, reporting advancements, and data integrity in partnership with Systems, IT, and Strategy & Analytics
- Lead and develop direct reports, intentionally building leadership capability and a strong pipeline while fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous learning
- Provide strategic oversight of store delivery planning, ensuring efficient merchandise flow, capacity readiness, and service reliability
- Review, audit, and approve transportation and operational invoices to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely payment
- Establish, standardize, and govern outbound planning SOPs to ensure consistent execution
- Serve as an escalation point for complex operational issues impacting store service or transportation execution
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Transportation preferred; equivalent experience considered
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), including executive level analysis and presentation
- Strong working knowledge of transportation management systems and network level logistics operations
- Proven ability to translate data into insights, influence decisions, and drive results
- Demonstrated strategic thinking with the ability to balance short term execution and long term planning
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills
- Proven ability to lead change, manage ambiguity, and operate effectively in a fast paced environment
- Strong cross functional leadership and collaboration skills
- Advanced analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving capabilities
- Effective prioritization, risk assessment, and time management skills
- 5+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations
- 3+ years of people leadership experience, including managing managers or senior individual contributors
- Demonstrated success using metrics, analytics, and process improvement methodologies to drive performance and cost outcomes
- Experience leading cross functional initiatives and influencing at multiple organizational levels

Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual incentive as well as long-term incentives.
